How epimetheus be looking at prometheus after seeing the shit that went down when they gave humans magic:

“In hindsight, this may have been a bad idea”
-epimetheus, during the cursebeard war mid-200 of the magic era

Actually wtf is up with prometheus giving magic
Like he is the titan of foresight how about he foresaw that shit
Was bro suicidal but wanted to take as many as possible with him

He was playing 1D chess :pensive:

Or he was pissed at Zeus for locking him up, and decided to do the thing that would single-handedly fuck the most shit up possible

thats what i was about to say

I don’t think foresight gives him actual future vision considering even the original myth he does something, giving humanity fire, that immediately results in him getting fucked up. Though it’s possible he knew and was just incredibly selfless. He does still warn his brother about marrying Pandora, which I feel like he probably wouldn’t have done if he knew for certain he’d do it anyways. It is still possible he was just really desperate.

If you didn’t mean that Prometheus had future vision, and rather just meant that he should’ve thought ahead and figured what would have happened, I think he did actually foresee the most likely obstacles he’d be facing. He likely knew he’d be facing Zeus and knew he could pull off a victory against him, and he was right he was winning towards the end of the War of the Gods.

The problem was some more unpredictable stuff started happening some of which while he was preoccupied with the war. Stuff like the hecate shards giving humanity magics beyond what he allowed them. I don’t know if he even knew that could happen. Regardless those gave rise to the biggest wild card, Cursebeard. A human being that not only rose to extreme levels of power on his own, but also got multiple gods to work under him including Poseidon. That coming at him at the very end of the primary threat he had been facing and focusing on for the last 100 years was probably something he never thought could happen or had the time to consider while he was in a massive war with Zeus.

He could’ve easily beaten Cursebeard, but only realized it in hindsight after he died

Summary

Before humans were given the gift of magic, the Earth was exactly how it was in our world, with some rare sightings of Greek mythological creatures. Mount Olympus and the Gods existed of course, but very few humans knew of them. Humans were given magic some time around 100 AD in our world, which caused the timeline to branch away.

During this time, some of the god’s most devoted followers were given enchanted objects, now known as “spirit weapons”, which allowed them to manipulate their own spirit energy. This gave followers of the gods a decent amount of power over those who did not follow them.

Prometheus had given humans the gift of fire as well during this time, and was punished by Zeus by being chained to a rock for many years, exactly how it had happened in Greek Mythology. However, during Prometheus’ imprisonment, an unknown entity had freed him and given him the power to steal another god’s authority. (This unknown entity, what they are and why they did this will be explained more during the later stages of Arcane Odyssey’s story)

The unknown entity had also weakened Hecate’s foresight (the goddess of magic). During this time, there was strife among the gods due to Hecate limiting the potential of magic through humans, and after Prometheus was freed, he took his opportunity and gift from the unknown entity to defeat and take Hecate’s authority over magic, allowing him to dictate its laws and limitations.

The gods are beings of magic and can use it, though only Hecate was capable of giving a species the power to control magic. (minus already magical species such as dragons)

Instead of Hecate dying and her soul wandering the earth like any other god’s would after their mortal body is killed, she decided to shatter her soul into thousands of pieces across the world.

The Golden Age of Magic Y1 - Y227

Y1

Labeled as “Y1”, present day humanity names this as the first year of recorded human history, due to the discovery of Magic.

Magic was given as a gift to the god’s most loyal followers by Prometheus, in one of the largest cities of Greece at the time, Athens. In a grand spectacle, Prometheus used his powers to give humanity the ability to manipulate their latent magic energy. Magic circles are created to shape magic energy into an element or other kind of form in order to carry out the caster’s intent. These people became known as “mages”, and their ability to use magic extended their lifetimes by up to 200 years, though the most powerful have been known to live even longer.

Humans were given only basic magic types by Prometheus - Fire, Earth, Lightning, Wind, Light, Shadow, and Water. However, over time, experienced mages found shards of Hecate’s soul, and were able to use their power to create enhanced forms of their magic - a process known as “mutating” to create “lost magics”. These mages passed down the ability to learn these created lost magic through their bloodline, and named their newly created magics as the first users of them.

Some mages even found multiple Hecate Shards, allowing them to mutate a magic even further to increase its strength more. These magics are known as Ancient Magics, or advanced mutations.

Over many centuries, some of the oldest lost magics such as acid, poison, and sand became more common, to the point that some children were even born able to use them. These magics became known as “lesser lost magics”. Some people can also very rarely be born with the ability to use a lost magic, such as Flare.

The power to use magic is passed down through generations, though it is random whether a person is born with the trait of being able to use it or not. The children of powerful mages are much more likely to be able to be born with the ability to use magic, though it is not a guarantee. If someone is incapable of using magic, they can still train to manipulate trace amounts of magic energy - a technique powerful weapon users use to increase the strength and speed of their attacks for example.

Humans can learn any number of magics after their first, though each one is exponentially more difficult to learn than the last, with most mages only able to learn 3 different types. Mages can learn lost and ancient magics passed down through their bloodline after becoming very skilled and powerful, such as a Fire Magic user being able to mutate to learn the lost magic Phoenix. When this process happens, known as “mutating”, the user does not forget the base magic they mutated from. Generally, the new magic is similar to the base one, with an altered property, such as Phoenix Magic being fire that has a greater affinity towards wind and healing.

The decision to give humanity magic was heavily disputed amongst the gods, but ultimately, they decided to see how it played out. This disagreement, however, created a lasting divide amongst the gods

circa. Y50

Some humans are steadily increasing the power of their magic, and using it to gain power. Some create new kingdoms, while others use it to conquer. Some of the gods began choosing certain humans as experiments for new powers, now known as “Experimental Curses”. These large, cube-shaped objects were created out of pure spirit energy, and gave a unique power to the humans they were forced upon.

Y112-Y227

The magic wars of the humans continue on, and eventually, one becomes crowned as the most powerful human mage of the era: King Arthur of Camelot. He had become so renowned that he even befriended some of the gods who agreed with the idea of humans having magic, such as Poseidon.

Meanwhile, the rift between some of the gods continued to widen. So much so that Zeus came down from Mount Olympus and began using his powers to take away magic manipulation from humanity, until he was stopped by Prometheus. The two began fighting, and from that moment on, the War of the Gods had begun.

Throughout the course of this war, many humans and many of the gods died. Prometheus’ side was winning, and it seemed as though the conflict would resolve soon. However, King Arthur’s greed for more power led him and his companions to march on Mount Olympus. Together with his army, the god Poseidon, and other powerful allies, they killed most of the remaining gods. Before killing Prometheus, however, Arthur demanded him to give humans the full power of magic, which he believed the gods were keeping from humanity, since they were only given base magic types, while others created more advanced types through finding Hecate Shards.

Prometheus warned Arthur that it was a terrible idea, and that the world would never be the same again, but Arthur did not care. Prometheus then used all of his remaining power to create the Elemental Curses, which were large cubes of pure magic energy. They soared out all over the world, and when it was done, Prometheus’ mortal body was reduced to ash. This event became known as the Fall of Mount Olympus.

Elemental Curses are a physical manifestation of magic, and only one was created for each known magic type at the time. When touched, you and the curse will become one. Because of this, curse-users can phase their body into whatever magic they joined with, allowing them to be impervious to all physical attacks. They use the curse as an extension of themselves, allowing them to attack much more articulately than magic. Since they are one with the magic they absorbed, they also become immortal - unable to die of natural causes, and remain in their physical prime for eternity. When a Curse-user is killed, their curse shoots out of their body and lands somewhere far away. However, since Curse users are immortal, most curses can never be found again, unless someone who possesses one is killed by other means. Magic requires a lot more skill and willpower to be performed compared to Elemental Curses, and drains a lot more energy.

Not all Curses are equal in power, however, as some, such as the Grand Fire Curses, are known to be extremely powerful and dangerous. The Grand Fire Curses are the name given to the colored flame type curses - such as the blue fire of the Inferno Curse. The more powerful a curse is, the more difficult it is for its user to maintain their sanity. Curses were named “curses” due to the fact that their users are cursed to outlive everyone they love.

Constructs of magic energy created by Curses can persist indefinitely if the user wishes them to, though things created out of magic energy by regular magic circles will dissipate soon after the spell’s intent wears out, or if the user wills it to, can last for up to hours before it dissipates.

The Age of Discovery Y600 - Y1051

circa. Y1000

During these times, there was a young boy with curly black hair who was unable to use magic, yet so desperately wanted to. As a result, he felt distant. One day, as he was walking through a forest far from his home, he found a large, glowing cube. It shined bright purple, and when he tried to touch it, his hands went right through. Suddenly, it exploded in a violent flash of light.

Afterwards, the boy felt strange… as if he had enough power to rule the world.

It wasn’t until much later that he discovered the true power the cube had given him.

One day, bandits invaded his town. Each one seemed to have a different type of

magic, and there were lightning bolts and magic attacks flying everywhere. The boy was sleeping at the time, but was woken up when the roof of his house collapsed. He crawled out from the rubble, his left arm broken. One of the bandits was standing and facing his house, as the light magic circle in front of him shrunk and then vanished. The boy had a strange sensation, as if he knew he had the power to defeat this man.

As if by instinct, he held up his right arm and pointed it towards the bandit. Slowly, the bandit’s magic energy drained from his body, so fast that he soon laid motionless on the ground. Having stolen all of the bandit’s magic energy and his powers, the boy was now able to create light magic circles and summon light. At last he had discovered the power that the cube had given him. This power became known as the Absorption Curse, an Experimental Curse that allows the user to absorb magic and curses from their enemies and use them indefinitely.

Y1018

Three years later, the power-hungry boy is traveling the land, stealing new magic from innocent mages all over the known world. His one goal was to learn every type of magic. During this time, the world had no organized government, so it was quite easy. He is now rumored throughout the known world as “The Magic Thief”, and people were terrified of him. One day, a man challenges him to a fight. The man’s arm suddenly turns into stone, as he laughs. He tries to absorb the man’s magic energy, but feels something strange. It was as if the man was resisting the absorption. The man continues laughing, then explaining that he does not use magic, and has never been able to. The boy comes to a conclusion. This man had the power of the Earth Curse, a different type of curse to the boy’s Absorption Curse. After a long fight, the man proved to be no match for the boy’s several types of magic. He had died, and his Earth Curse was absorbed by the boy.

“The Magic Thief” now lives inside of a massive tower he had built using his abilities. He studies magic in solitude, and slowly, the rumors of him fade into legend. Years pass, and now the dark mage knows nearly all of the secrets to magic. He has learned how to revive the dead, undo curses, combine the powers of curses, and much more.

Y1046

Finally, the dark mage ends his solitude. After leaving his tower, he walks for about three hours back to the nearest village. There he absorbs the magic energy of a flash magic user, and shortly after, a sun magic user. He feels the power-hungry lust once again, and begins traveling the land. He crosses the sea, and comes across the large city known as Dunwich, and at the entrance, he encounters one of the many legends of the time, a man named Theos. Theos was regarded throughout Europe as one of the most powerful mages, some even claiming he was more powerful than King Arthur. The dark mage tries to absorb his magic energy, but it doesn’t work. Exceptionally powerful mages can resist the power of the Absorption Curse, so long as they have the strength to fight.

Theos’ magic is so powerful, the dark mage can barely counter him. They battle for hours, eventually destroying the city’s front gate. Both mages are exhausted, and Theos retreats deep into the city. The dark mage, frightened by this man’s powers, turns the other way. Realizing his weaknesses, he begins to use his dead revival magic to create an army.

Y1050

The dark mage now has a massive force of undead villagers and mages at his command, and has become feared across the known world, given the name “Acheron”, after one of the rivers of the underworld. Using his powers, he gave some of his undead warriors the ability to use his magics, allowing them to fight for him. He had also gained the abilities of the Lightning and Explosion Curses during this time period. Eventually, he commands his undead army to attack Dunwich.

Y1051

At the beginning of Y1051, the undead army finally reaches Dunwich, but Theos meets them at the entrance, destroying the army with ease. Furious, Acheron decides to attack Dunwich himself.

The two legendary mages begin to battle. Both at their full power, they leave a path of destruction in their wake. Acheron was losing badly, having lost his right leg to the orange and white flames of Theos’ phoenix magic. He knew there was no way he was escaping alive. The man was too powerful. Acheron did not want to die. In a desperate attempt to save his life, he used the rest of his strength to combine all the powers he had absorbed, all of his remaining magic energy, and fired it at Theos in the form of a gigantic blast.

Theos had conjured wings of fire to dodge the massive attack, and hit a mountain far behind the man, causing a massive earthquake as the land started to split from the explosion. No one could see anything, and both Acheron and Theos were sent flying by the enormous shockwave that followed. They awake several thousand miles away from each other, on small islands. The attack had wiped out a large portion of the human race, and caused lasting damage to the entire earth that would alter it for the next several hundred years. Acheron had lost a lot of the curses and magic he had absorbed due to the extreme amount of energy he had poured into the attack. This event became known in history as “The Fracture” due to the extreme damage and changes it had caused to the planet.

“The Player” (in Arcane Adventures) was living during this time period as a peasant without magic, and was also killed by the blast. They continued to exist as ash floating on the sea for hundreds of years.

circa. Y1500

Five hundred years pass, and the world’s remains have developed villages, cities, and more. Not much remains of the previous existing continents besides small islands and rocks in the sea. Acheron’s attack had filled the air and sea with so much magic energy that the natural behaviors of the Earth had changed, causing massive tsunamis, huge storms, snow in previously hot places, and other anomalies. Massive parts of the Earth are now so malicious and polluted with magic energy that humans cannot live there anymore. This enormous stretch of treacherous sea became known as the Dark Sea.

No one knew what had caused the world to split into islands, and eventually everyone forgot about the old continents. People live their lives near the sea, using ships to travel from place to place. Because of the vastness of the ocean, pirates and other villains begin to surface.

The Age of Seven Seas Y1800 - Y1854

circa. Y1800

A few powerful mages, most survivors from back when the islands were one, band together to create the Arcane Government. The Arcane Government, more commonly known as A.G.,

created laws that were to be abided in all the Seven Seas. Some still chose to oppose the A.G., despite their vast power. Battles in the Seven Seas broke out between pirates and the new government.

Around this time period, an unknown event happens in the Old Sea that causes most of its population to be wiped out. Some say that it was Chaos, and that some truly evil event must have happened for it to have appeared. The remaining people eventually sail north, as they now believe that the Old Sea is now cursed and dark. They eventually end up at the present-day Seven Seas.

Y1854

Theos, now known as “Theos the War Phoenix”, now sails around the seas as a peace-keeper, on a massive ship with a lot of followers. The A.G. had asked Theos if he wanted to join them, but he declined, claiming he doesn’t agree with their morals. Theos had clashed with the A.G. on multiple occasions, such as when they caused harm to innocent villages. He doesn’t directly oppose them. Theos’ main goal is to find the dark mage Acheron and annihilate him himself, seeing this as his only true purpose in life now that his home and entire family have been erased by the evil mage.

As for Acheron, he has been rebuilding his army by using the people’s corpses that were killed by his attack long ago. His army of undead is massive, and rumored to be staying at a large, dark forest island. The dark mage has been traveling to the different islands, absorbing more curses and mutations to this day, but always making sure he stands at least a sea away from Theos.

He has become consumed by power, leaving his physical body behind and traveling around as an immortal dark spirit. Using his powers, he can resurrect sunken ships, put his undead men on them, and use them to oppose the A.G… These ships are unsinkable, making them extremely dangerous.

Acheron viewed the A.G. as a nuisance, due to the fact that their commanders are mostly curse users. Any time he would try to catch a commander off-guard and alone to absorb their curse, they would quickly call in reinforcements, forcing Acheron to retreat due to sheer numbers. Acheron was always smart about his decisions, realizing that getting captured would be a threat to his ultimate goal, which is to rule the world. Instead, he spent most of his time in hiding, slowly growing stronger, performing more research, and growing his army.

Meanwhile, one of the A.G. Admirals, Argestes, got in a heated naval battle against one of the commanders of the One Shot Pirates, the strongest and largest pirate group on the sea, originating 300 years ago. The One Shot Pirates are commanded by none other than Arthur the Cursebeard, the same man who had defeated Prometheus almost two thousand years ago. Argestes is a master of Wind and Gravity Magic, and one of the original founders of A.G… He releases a massive tornado using his full power, easily ripping through the pirate’s galleon and continuing for miles over the horizon. The attack ends up causing chaos all over the First Sea, flinging Captain Verdies’s frigate up onto a sky island, and even hitting Theos’ ship and causing it to crash into Newground Island.

Realizing he had little influence in the First Sea, Acheron had destroyed a few young mage’s minds, causing them to go insane and attack anyone that they came across. He had also used his Dead Revival Magic to raise the fallen king Ramses II so that he could have complete control over Savaria. When he was casting the spell to revive the undead warriors of Savaria however, he had accidentally casted the spell wrong, and revived “the Player”.

Dead Revival Magic restored the player to exactly how they looked at the time of their death in Y1051, yet they have no memory of how they came to be. Strangely enough, Acheron also has little control over the player, since they were a mistake. Since the Players existed as ash floating on the magic-polluted sea for eight hundred years, their atoms are rich with magic, allowing them to become stronger faster than all other mages. The player appears out of thin air on Newground Island, where they meet Theos the War Phoenix.

Arcane Adventures takes place in Y1854

Arcane Adventures [BROKEN] - Roblox

Theos senses the player’s impressive magic energy, and asks them to prove themselves in exchange for a Rowboat and Magic Dagger. After completing the quest of defeating a few of the young mages that were tainted by Acheron, Theos gives the player their rewards, says farewell and flies off using his Phoenix Magic.

After exploring the First Sea and becoming more adept at their magic, the player is told by someone on Cumulus Island that Theos is waiting for them at the Borealis Shipwreck in the Second Sea. The player sails there, and meets Theos, who explains the backstory of Acheron and how he is related to almost every villainous act the player has gone through so far. Realizing he is getting too old, and after sensing the player’s latent magical gift, Theos asks the player for their help in going after Acheron and defeating him. First, the player must awaken their second mind in order to learn a new magic, which will make them much more powerful. Theos offers to do this after the player completes his three challenges.

“Minds” are tiny, invisible areas of the brain where the ability to cast magic comes from. Some people are born with their first “mind” unlocked, allowing them to use one type of magic and eventually unlock their other minds, allowing them to use even more. Each magic you learn completely fills up a “mind”, meaning you can only learn a limited number of magics, and learning each one is much more difficult than the last. If you are born without your first mind unlocked, it is impossible to open it, no matter what training you do. However, even if you don’t have the ability to summon magic, every living thing still has magic energy, as it is essentially life essence. In the Seven Seas, it was believed mages could only learn three magics due to these limitations. (Note: Minds are no longer canon, they were made up to make the whole 3 magic gameplay mechanic make sense. Lore-wise a mage could learn any number of magics if they were taught by other people)

After completing all of the challenges, the player meets Theos on the shore of Judgement Isle, where their second mind is awoken and they unleash their second magic. After this, Theos informs the player that he is going to travel to Cursebeard’s Kingdom in the Third Sea and ask Cursebeard for his assistance in defeating Acheron as well.

The player sails there and finds Theos near a fountain outside of the city, who asks them to go inside and ask Cursebeard for assistance themselves, deciding he would attract too much attention if he went in himself. The player agrees, but after traveling up the castle keep and the throne room, they are told by a guard that Cursebeard and most of his fleet have left for the Seventh Sea to defeat Acheron. Theos finds this confusing, since Cursebeard never saw Acheron as a threat before, and also because he believed Acheron was at Mainland, a large island in the Fourth Sea. Theos tells the player they should stop at Sunrise Ravine first before heading to Mainland.

At Sunrise Ravine in the Third Sea, Theos opens up to the player about how old he is, the long history he has with Acheron, and how he feels so alone now that his home town and everyone he knew is gone. He went on to say he may not live for much longer, and that the player should take a gauntlet from his armor as a gift.

After leaving Sunrise Ravine, the player explores the Third Sea and becomes even more powerful, eventually becoming a master of their second magic. After this, the player finally sails towards Mainland, but stops to investigate a strange, dark spire. They venture inside to find Theos battling Undead Prometheus.

Theos eventually defeats the undead god, but dies due to his severe injuries. His final wish is that the player carries out his last request, and rids the world of Acheron the dark mage once and for all.

Disclaimer: The Arcane Adventures Story post-Third Sea is mostly ideas/speculation, many more events would have happened in each sea such as more characters being introduced, more boss battles, etc., and the final battle and such would have been much more thought out had it happened in-game. The details here are just to outline the broader events, and are subject to change at any time. If/When the Arcane Adventures storyline is adapted into books, its entire story will likely be revised to be as detailed as Arcane Odyssey’s.

The events throughout the Fourth to Sixth seas are mainly unknown, as Arcane Adventures was sadly broken due to a Roblox update before the story could advance that far in game. The few things that are known are as follows:

Fourth Sea: The player was meant to awaken their third mind and learn their third magic here, as well as helping Averill on a long and perilous quest to steal the Light Curse from a rich and very well-guarded castle. The owners of the castle are pirates, and are the killers of the captain of the Patch Pirates, the crew that Averill was originally a part of. With the player’s help, Averill successfully defeats the entire pirate faction, however he loses his arm in the battle. Before bleeding out, he finds the Light Curse in the castle’s treasury, which saved his life. After obtaining it, he created an artificial arm out of pure light.

Fifth Sea: Home of the Arcane Government’s headquarters, the player was meant to mutate their first magic somewhere in this sea with help from Freedrock, Radius Fist inventor and Lazarus Curse user.

Sixth Sea: Here, the player was meant to mutate their second magic, and Trigno would finally put an end to the mad Fire Curse user Rupin. After an insane battle which destroyed 3 islands, Rupin was finally killed. Afterwards, Trigno would bid the player farewell here and sail into the open sea, stating that he wants no part in the war that lies ahead. The player also becomes ridiculously powerful in this portion of the game, finally unlocking their full potential.

After all this, the player sails east towards the Seventh Sea. The Sixth and Seventh Seas are separated by a large stretch of open water, with not much wind or air in the area either. Because of this, the Seventh Sea doesn’t see much trade and has a very low population since it’s virtually cut off from the rest of the Seven Seas.

In this large stretch of open sea, the Cursebeard Pirates are at war with Acheron’s undead army. The sea is riddled with thunderstorms, cannonfire, tsunamis, and enormous icebergs, marking the path where Cursebeard was.

The player eventually reaches the Seventh Sea, where they find the island where Acheron lives. This area was not thought out at all or even named. Here, the player finds Cursebeard’s dying body. Cursebeard tells the player that he was defeated by the God of Thunder, Zeus, who had been revived by Acheron as a last line of defense.

Cursebeard and his army were defeated slowly, as the more of his men died, the more the undead army grew, eventually forcing Arthur to kill his own men. After a while, it was just him and undead Poseidon remaining, who was also a high commander of the One Shot Pirates. Poseidon and Arthur were separated for most of the battle, and Poseidon eventually faced off against undead Zeus. The fallen once Zeus the father of the cosmos, faces off against his brother, Poseidon the Earthshaker. After a hard fought battle, Poseidon is killed.

Arthur and Poseidon’s battle lasted long, and the seas around them had formed enormous waves that stood still in the air due to the two’s abilities to control the ocean. The ground shook with the strength of an earthquake due to the instability in power. Arthur had to use his full power to kill Poseidon, something he hadn’t needed to do since the fall of Mount Olympus. Afterwards, he was swiftly ambushed by undead Zeus. Arthur was injured from the battle, but his energy was still full, due to him having the Energy Curse. From the sheer power of the undead god, the nature of the attack, and Arthur’s broken spirit after defeating the crew he had built up over hundreds of years, he was defeated.

The player eventually defeated both Acheron and Zeus by themselves. In his desperation, Acheron exploded into pure magic energy, which caused global earthquakes and tsunamis, taking a large chunk out of the earth and blowing it into space. The Fourth, Fifth, and Seventh Seas were completely destroyed in the blast, and the rest of the world felt a massive shockwave. The effects of the blast were felt for a few months all around the world, such as tsunamis, earthquakes, and more insane weather. In the War Seas, this event became known as “The Wrath of the Gods”.

This series of events came to be known as the Cursebeard War. Tales of the player’s victory spread far and wide, and they became known as “The Peacekeeper”.

Due to this cataclysmic event, Chaos was attracted to the earth and ravaged many of the remaining Seven Seas. Some islands had also gone completely missing, while others were left in ruin. Since the Arcane Government’s headquarters was in the Fifth Sea, it was vaporized in the explosion, and the head chain of command for the A.G. was completely wiped out. After a while, the few remaining A.G. units had fallen apart.

As of the most recent version of the lore doc he did both. Fire first in the early days of humanity and then magic in around 100AD after escaping his imprisonment.

Is there a reason why are some of the places not polluted by the magic?

no
