There’s 14 completed lost magics right now: Gravity, Aether, Aether Lightning, Flare, Poison Lightning, Slash, Diamond, Regulus, Rupture, Ancient Lightning, Heat, Phoenix, and Darkness. A few more have been confirmed too, but these are the ones fully in-game.
At Vetex’s current pace, lost magics probably won’t release until around mid 2027 to early 2028. But since he’s already made almost as many lost magics as base magics, maybe they could release earlier at a more reasonable level like 200-250?
Before lost magics get added though, Vetex seriously needs to rethink how hard he makes things to obtain. Since Hecate Essences released, I’ve gained 700 hours of playtime and only found one, even with help. I spent 66 hours of just sailing to the insanity 3 range, and most of my time hecating is trying to find islands while having to skip some, as some are so large I’ll probably just get lost or die to fall damage at some point. I also know people who still haven’t found a single Hecate.
And that’s without counting the bugs. Hecates constantly spawn inside terrain or clip into it so you can’t use them. i3 in the Bronze Sea also bugs often to where regular islands stop spawning.
So if changing from one base magic to another is already this difficult, how bad will lost magics be? They’re supposed to be even harder than Hecates, and Vetex already thinks Hecates are balanced, so getting lost magics will probably end up nearly impossible.
hecate shards and essences are different
the below states
Lost Magics
Can only be obtained from completing sea-based activities, and would start to be found at much higher levels. Lost Magics will require finding an item called a Hecate Shard to be learned. These will not be player obtainable until around Level 300.
from trello, it will be from general sea based activities rather than dark sea far reaches shithole hell
None of the lost magics are finished, their visuals, stats, and audio are all placeholders or unpolished.
They’ll be around level 300.
He’s not focusing on them so he definitely will be able to add a ton once they’re actually for players and he’s focused on them.
Shards may supposedly be harder to get but they’re not dark sea exclusive or anything, you’ll probably be able to get one in 5 minutes using fleets.
Lost magics are something Vetex wants players doing, changing base magics is something he doesn’t want them doing but added so people wouldn’t complain. Essences are stupidly rare or purpose (which is dumb) while shards are something you’re gonna be meant to get without going on a giant 7 hour detour.
hey so dumb question, since they are unobtainable till 300ish do you guys think its just better to play with other builds for the time being? of course soon we are getting our second awakening that gives an interesting buff while also giving pure builds a special secondary ability, but personally i feel like waiting till that range to decide on using losts.
also on the topic of losts, i want to point out phoenix, just because i want everyone elses opinion: phoenix is assumed to have an inate lifesteal, but i wonder how healing to other players work. this kinda ties in with life magic too, but i got a feeling it is either a small yet lowish cooldown heal per attack, or simply a great heal with a long cd
So far, phoenix is only confirmed to have self-healing, so there is a small possibility it would not be able to heal allies
If that’s the case, I hope and pray to any greek god willing to listen that there’s another lost magic with ally healing (like maybe divine, flash, or nature if they turn out to be losts) because i dont rlly wanna have to wait 20 years to finally get my hands on life magic (or be forced to switch builds when we eventually get healing rites or instruments if those are still planned)
Them being level 300 is relevant cause you said that they might be released earlier.
Sure some changes are small but they are changes (pretty sure like everything is a placeholder and nowhere near finished but I might be wrong.)
Even without fleets they shouldn’t be too bad to get. Maybe they’re harder to get them essences but you can also just get them from opening sealed chests and stuff so it’s not a giant detour just for them.
I get where you’re coming from, but currently all lost magics are “concepts” of what they will be like. On the bright side this means all current lost magics will get much needed touch ups in all aspects when we do get them… eventually
I agree, I also hope they aren’t too common or too rare either (if they do somehow turn out to be super rare like hecate essence maybe we can at least receive a shard during the story… otherwise we all riot)
My hope is that we don’t get a shard during the story but there’s a side quest or two that give them as rewards. Maybe alongside other things for other builds or maybe just meant to be primarily for magic builds.
iirc one of the proposed plans was that you can mutate any of your magics including ur first, but mutating your first magic doesn’t replace it and instead you choose to replace either your 2nd or 3rd (and i believe mutating 2nd or 3rd simply replaces themselves like normal)
so basically it means you will always have at least one base magic, can have up to two lost magics, and can have only up to one ancient magic. no idea if this is the final system tho!!
I hope Inferno becomes Ancient, this thing is getting too popular, and Lost will become quite common, every player will eventually have a Lost magic, there are no downsides to having one and you won’t lose your base magic.
What really worries me is whether charging a Lost magic will alter normal Flauting or not.
I believe all magic-based builds will be able to receive an additional slot for magic when second awakening comes around, alongside whatever their actual second awakening is (so pure magic gets 3 slots and hybrids get 2, i believe savant will regain the ability to choose between +1 magic or +1 fighting style)
Inferno has always been an ancient, and I think it probably still is. apparently the confusion came from a tester who falsely stated that inferno was a lost (unless vetex retconned things again )
as for the flaunting part, I hope we will be able to pick what magic we can flaunt in the future since it appears that the flaunting effects for certain lost magics are already created (although, they are all far from finished)
I can see the point, but it’s a magic whose curse equivalent is one of the grand fire curses, some of the most powerful curses in the war seas (unless they got retconned with promethean flame)
it’s also stated to be the fire that “burns the hottest” meaning it’s likely hotter than any other magic and can burn basically anything to ash
