if it doesn’t trigger grab cooldown you could quite literally force a rush/snare with it lol
Now, personally, as someone with iffy aim and who prefers ranged combat in this game, I don’t want this at all. Like, I’m only ever going to get screwed over by this. We all know NPCs win in m1 combat, and players will use this to prevent escapes in bounty hunting to an annoying extent.
However, grapple hooks are cool, so…
+whiplash
Agility is getting reworked to make running from bounties more difficult anyways + you have to actually land it to pull someone. Also the fleeing player can also use the Engage Wire to run away too.
having bad aim and preferring ranged combat is funny lol but youd still be able to play range just have to be mindful of getting caught by wire and learn to dodge better which is already kind of the case with grab moves rn
i dont think it should trigger grab cooldown tbh since the player can still act during it. Like you could easily grab someone just for them to land a blast on you at point blank range. You shouldn’t be able to throw Wire out without any thought it should be a strong combo tool that you have to use carefully

I have been playing too much Ultrakill so now I need this in order to not be tweaking 24/7
Amazing! Now I want to switch to magic
fire
Maybe a little OP, but just a little bit
a little OP never hurt anybody
good for warlock/conj.
if you can use the “engage” one to pull yourself towards players, what’s to say you can’t do that to the terrain either?
at that point we should just get a grappling hook unlocked at a later level lmao
yep thats the idea
I had thought the javelin spell was supposed to do just that. You have no idea how disappointed I was after learning that the magic javelin spell is an actual magical javelin.
The ‘Wire’ name made me think of tripwire and whatnot. Having magic traps would be nice and all, but the demoman situation would show itself with possible stacking/close proximity of the traps.
Though the name needs to be reworked, it’s an excellent idea. Might see use at a movement ability too, though I fail to see what can be achieved with this spell that a simple T jump, magic jump or dash can’t achieve
Thanks for the feedback. Here’s some scenarios where Wire would have unique utility.
-
If you have high attack speed you can aim Wire at the ground while in the air to quickly duck under a projectile. You can probably do this with low attack speed too but your wire might be to slow and get you hit in the process.
-
You are swimming towards your ship and will run out of stamina before you make it to the side of the ship. Use wire to aim at the side of the ship and save yourself from drowning.
-
T jump, magic leap, then aim Wire upwards at the side of a cliff to quickly scale it.
-
Aim wire at the top of a building and press space to detach and keep your momentum then reflex. Do this repeatedly to quickly traverse areas.
vetex said he plans on adding a whip like weapon in the future so maybe that could be the equivalent for weapon users. But as far as juggernaut and berserker I dont know what theyd get that would make sense
Glue fist.
