its like this because vetex doesn’t want pvpheads with a lot of robux constantly changing to the new meta
Why is that a bad thing exactly? That actually sounds better for AO as a whole if the magic change was cheaper because more people would buy it
2k robux is a blatant waste of money
Imagine there’s some robux-rich PVP sweat who changes their magic every time their build gets nerfed
Personally? I think 800 robux at most should be the cost of a magic change, maybe 500 if we’re being generous, 2000 robux for changing what sparkly magic power you shoot out from your asshole is just greedy bro
Vetex never wanted to add the gamepass in the first place and seemingly set the price high out of spite. If you don’t like it pretend it doesn’t exist and change your magic the legit way or make a new file. It’s existence alone isn’t going to harm you so what sense is there whining about the price?
I think the biggest flaw with big V is he often lets spite and anger ruin any genuinely good idea he has or had for a feature of AO
First it’s not removing custom magics (which I KNOW will be a problem, it already has had loads of controversies) and now it’s this, except this time I think it’s a lot worse because if big V put away his ego for a second and just made a reasonably priced gamepass he could potentially make loads of money
I’m on Vetex’s side personally. The game never needed a microtransaction to reset your magic in the first place because it could already be earned in a pretty cool way. No amount of screaming and flailing is going to make him make something he already dislikes any more accessible. Also you’re like, incredibly late to discussing this. Also custom magics are a reward for the people that have been a huge help to him. Frankly they deserve a little extra fun and mechanical advantages in-game. Now if those same people turn around and start being unmistakably toxic when using that custom content then it should be handled case by case instead of banning the content entirely, which is like using a sledgehammer to patch a hole in a wall.
Mb gang I’m a bit slow on news ![]()
But anyway if big V really genuinely thought that this game didn’t need a magic reset gamepass since as you put it:
Then he just should have never made a magic change gamepass to begin with. Making one out of spite as many of us think he did is frankly kind of petty and it’s missing out on a bigger opportunity for profit too.
(Also for the record, hunting for a cloud of gas in the dark sea to be able to change your magic is not cool, it’s really tedious and RNG dependent and there are probably dozens of better ways a magic change could’ve been implemented)
One very tiny issue…
Custom magics aren’t “little” advantages.
Tiresome to bother responding to the previous messages when I’m mostly in agreement but accepting of the reality of the situation but for this one, even when they’re big advantages who cares? By the time we start getting lost tier content most of them will barely be an advantage at all. And even then, why complain about struggling to compete with people that most of which barely interact with the competitive scene to begin with? Running or not interacting are valid strategies. A tactical retreat is a valid strategy if you want to be competitive about everything. It’s like being the spoiled kid at the birthday party that gets mad with the birthday kid getting an extra slice of cake, so you try to smash the entire cake.
Gang how do we not see that this is the beginning of a snowball ![]()
It starts with OP customs and then they’re just gonna get more OP shit to constantly have an advantage all of the time
Trust me gang I know big V is going to probably let his friends still damage people outside of the duel system and I be this hazard guy is going to somehow explain why that’s a good and fair thing ![]()
Also I’m like 99% sure there have been dramas and controversies surrounding custom abusers using their magics to unfairly boost their clan though don’t quote me on this
I’ve seen a single clip of someone with a spec rolling in on some naval combat and stepping in for the smaller clan to roleplay the hero which people blew up into a monumental controversy for no good reason as that’s not boosting, that’s just having fun. Anyway we’re off topic and this conversation has lasted too long.
First, we will get pvp toggle, so some sweat won’t matter
Second, Vetex can just make f2p magic change, the hecate essense, more accessible, so the robux cost could be lowered accordingly
500, agree
Oh. Well, that explains things… Still, since he already made it…
I don’t think it’s out of spite because the intended goal is for you to not change your magic frequently. I think it stands to reason that it’d be expensive.
That’s… not the point but I’m not gonna argue about something like this
How is changing your magic often a bad thing though
Every other stat in this game can change what they want with relative ease
Vetex likes the idea that magic is apart of your identity being able to easily change it undermines that. Lore ![]()
