Magic Elementals (Open Art Collab)

o? Why those?

everytime i see a picture of them my brain just immediately things that some sort of biological explosion happened in them, also you could do anything from the Cambrian period just for the pun

True, but I do think tying in some physical element of the magic in is more effective, even if it’s really on the nose.

Also Fire gets a mf moth, some people do be the ungrateful

So . . . what’s your suggestion then? I’ll happily redo it if I think it’s that much better

this is a thing? i didn’t even see it
only know about this through the replies

lol yes. Only quest has done stuff for it (god bless), but I’m not too surprised (not sure how many people draw creatures as prolifically as I do)

let me explore a bit ill find one i think is fitting then send you an image

It’s fine to send a whole wall of text to me as long as it’s punctuated tbh

yeah i don’t really do that kind of stuff for the comic minus water magic
in AA, water magic’s ult has you summon a large water dragon to annihilate your target so it kinda made sense for a water magic user like juniper to have a water dragon elemental

I totally forgot that Water did that, but it makes way more sense to me now. Always found it cool, tho

i could only think the phoenix but thats more related to fire i was thinking along the lines of behemoth because its litterly a force of destruction that rivals the dragons and its a mammal wich is dope as fuck

Still, that doesn’t really tie into Explosion in a unique way. Yeah, they’re both destructive, but that could just as easily be Iron or Earth.

And, in concept, something that large and aggressive wouldn’t fit that well since these are supposed to be “naturally-occuring” creatures that utilize, embody, and/or are most in-tune with their magic. A Behemoth really wouldn’t do that in a unique way as the Bombardier Beetle does, and from a biological standpoint it probably would end up being too destructive for its own survival (especially at the size you’re describing).

You said there are so many creatures that can represent Explosion, so do you have any others?

ill look into it but so far the only one i found was the Gumberoo

The Gumberoo dies by fire/explosion, so . . . probably not

now that i have tought about it maybe the size creates the explosive factor what about some kind of flying whale it would use explosions as its defense as it would get hunted for its hide and other materials quite often

Given that these are based off of real animals or mythic ones that have elements tied into their behavior/lore, Explosion whale doesn’t work. It’s too random. Maybe for a creature game like Creatures of Sonaria, but not the Elemental series

i understand i mean explosion is tied with fire to the core so i mean the best options for it are dragons or the beetle so im giving up there is not anything better

Sorry to kind of bully you into understanding, but if I told you flat-out you probably wouldn’t understand (as in this is a trend, nothing against you). Please trust me when I say that I put a lot of thought into these Elementals and if there was anything grand and/or mythical that tied into Explosion I would have used it.

i know but im biased to explosion as its my main magic and i had to defend it alot because my friend group likes to bully each other (our way of humor) so when i saw all those epic things for other elements the beetle disapointed me i mean its cool as fuck but its not mythical

Bully them that your Elemental is real, man
