I say don’t metamance, so avoid shadow water & wind. Sand, glass and paper are good all around magics (however, paper will be deleted in AO). If you want a heavy hitting magic, I like ice and earth. Earth has bleed buff and ice freezes opponents. Just my opinions.

Try to use each magic, and if you will find some good magic for your playstely, go with it.
And forget about meta magic/pvp magic cause in AO magic will be re-balanced a bit.
