So, I really want to make a self-insert in AO. It would be a Magic/FS/Weap fire basic savant (stats in order of levelling), but I have gotten to a dillema.
I really don’t want to grind the game. Its fun, sometimes infuriating, sometimes exciting, but VERY time consumimg. The issue is that I do not have the time to grind anymore.
I have a Warrior zoro cosplay slot that is nearing 500 hours. It has basically everything, from maxed builds to max skills to every item I could need. However, I would need to change the magic and the name of the slot, along with burning what has essentially become my icon character in the game, going as far as to get mutiple artworks for it.
Ignore such needs as hecate essence and robux for name change, it is simply about the save files. Do I rework my warrior into the savant, or do I make a new file for the savant?
why wouldnt you make a new file though, doing the storyline and trading important items would be way faster than trying to find an hecate essence and allat. plus you would still have your warrior file there if needs be
theres just absolutely no reason not to unless you have no save file left
Can’t you transfer items from one file to another using the marketplace so you wouldn’t even need to grind or trade for items, unless the savant will be on a different account.
I planned to make savant my new main slot, as in, regrind most of the stuff I have on my Warrior. It would take at least ~50 hours of repeating the same thing i did on another file just for some part of the same wealth to be carried over.
Besides, hecate essence may be rare, but technically it is the only prerequisite that I need to meet, all that is left after that is a name change.
Put items up for sale on your main file, then on a different file you go to my items on the market place and the items will be there, if you take them off sale they will go into your inventory
put an item on sale (ideally for an exorbitant price), reclaim it on the other file (as the marketplace is account-specific, not based on files.)
although trading with an alt would probably be faster overall to transfer loads of items? the issue is that you do need a save file on that alt with a level high enough for all items you wish to transfer.
That is the whole point. I do not want to dabble with getting an alt to max, having 2 accounts in game at once, doing infinite trades just to transfer some items.
I want to do what seems to be easier to do, and using an alt to trade dosent seem like the easier thing.
Hey fire savant here. I changed my class a lot on this file, then decided to be a savant. My magic was glass which i started to hate cuz it was so noisy and boring so i decided to change it. OH BOY the search for the essence was the absolue WORST thing i ever went through in this game. I didn’t have warding gear so i used potions, used all of my golden pearls and still havent found anything for 2 weeks straight, then droped the game for a while. I then tried getting a hecate taxi, had to give up some of my most valable items but i finally found someone to take me. I was ecstatic when we found the essence. Was it worth it? Well i really wanted a flashy magic so kinda. But i DO NOT want to ever go through that ever again. I didn’t make a new file cuz this one had meaning to me.
Tldr: just make new file the suffering is not worth it.
Since this file will become your main slot / file, I recommend going for hecate. If I were you I wouldn’t make a new main file as all my time is already recorded on that file.
My hecate experience for reassurance
A total of 3 trips to find it, on the 1st and 2nd trip I found nothing and wasted around 1h 30m dying to a Atlantean. On the 3rd trip I found it instantly after getting to the far reaches on the first island. It had no Atlanteans on it too.
I’m also going to guess that in the 500-ish hours you have on this file you’ve got a lot of stuff that would be very time consuming to get again or transfer which you seem to dislike the idea of doing:
You could also just self-insert as a warrior and name change to bypass all this grind.
