I’ve mostly been messing around with clan building recently, and my biggest issue with it is that decorations that should emit light, just don’t emit light. It just feels and looks wrong.

Proposal

Give the placable campfire, lantern post, dual lantern post, and candle pillar a light emitting part to make them actually emit light.

How the lanterns and campfires should look (simulated using the cooking pot, which does have a light emitter, so please ignore the cooking pot itself and the wonky shadows) (maybe the light should also go slightly further)


Reason to add/change

Come on, they’re decorations that should emit light. Not having these decorations emit light makes them feel out of place in most builds.
Allowing players to have several sources of light will let them more easily set the mood for a specific build, without having to use items that might not fit well with the intended mood.

(Besides, I doubt it would take long to implement this change)


Thank you for reading my suggestion. I will be trying to find ways to hide cooking pots so I can properly light my dungeon now (which would’ve been easy to do if the candles gave off light).

Vetex said he did this on purpose bc too many lights sources would cause lag, and I can confirm after having placed over a 100 cauldrons on one of my bases that it gets really laggy after a certain amount of time.

this is proof that people already do this.
why would you not add a feature that improves the experience of many people, but makes it slightly easier for trolls to do something they can already do.

And if you still feel anxious about trolls ruining the experience for others, why not just add a separate light source cap that scales on island size, just like the farm cap. (I doubt you need more than 200 light sources on thrylos crossing for example)
