I got fried doing tech-senpai’s theories so here’s a theory for you
Mako:
Recently fought with the demon lord but unable to completely kill him he had to devour him, therefore he has a life-struggle with inner-demons.
Evidence: The above pictures, and their progress suggests the demons growing within and Mako’s pain.
His constant “hehe” actually stands for “hell everywhere, hell everywhere”
