Greetings! This is Maria Boa, and it has been almost 3 years since my husband, Isaiah Boa, has traveled the world and made studies on all races and groups across the world. I will not expand upon these journeys as I do not have the capacity to do so, and I am still being taught the facets of the World Language; it is likely this will be edited to an extent.
Anyways, especially considering that Isaiah himself is cursed, I have decided to make myself useful and go into deep study of soul and the theories that surround it. I wish that this could be used by any reader. However, I advise regardless to never involve one’s matters in the whimsies of the soul, especially the world of spirits; tread with caution, or join it.
Order
The origin of Soul and its distribution was has been described in similar ways by multiple primary sources. Of course, such sources were obscenely difficult to contact or keep in a position where they can give information through any methods, as Reapers are difficult to hold in one places and are chaotic in their temperament. Notably, whether Reapers have different minds than humans, we do not know, but we will discuss Reapers in further detail later. What matters is that Reapers have contact with the origin of Soul, and the way in which it presents itself to our minds. It is notable that through this, and the fact that Order communicates with its Reapers and transports them, their creations, it is sentient in some form.
Order is some sort of god-like being or concept. Its physical facets are difficult to describe and inconsistent, if they do exist, but its name to all sources has been “Order”, when asked. To most Reapers, Order appears as a sort of adorned Silver Brazier, floating on clouds, with a brilliant night sky in the backdrop. This varies, however, and has been described even as a fountain, or a volcano, though, these concepts are similar as the blue fire of Soul appears within it. The visage in general shoots its flame out into the sky, lighting it, and it branches off seemingly forever into infinity, or into folds in spacetime.
It is generally decided upon that, especially considering the appearances of Angels and the power and apparently higher plane of Order, that its appearance is subjective and is created by itself to present itself to lower beings such as Reapers. No human has ever been transported to this area before, despite rare cases of Reapers being able to cooperatively teleport humans along with them when manipulating the Nexus for movement. Thus, any other details about the place, though, would most likely be fake as well, cannot be described due to Reapers’ lack of other senses.
However, the space in which it exists within is much more real. According to multiple sources and studies, Reapers actually disappear when “visiting” Order, even if for a short fragment of time, so it seems that some transportations to this “realm” are more sloppily done than others, if there is an incentive or reason for their time relation in our universes.
According to Order itself, passed down by Reapers, this place connects to all universes, and the flame it contains, matching with the illusion it presents as itself, spreads out through the area of “sky” into all places, branching off. This formation of flame, both the collection of it within the structure of “Order” and its tendrils reaching up into the sky have been consistent on all accounts, so it is commonly proposed that the flame itself is highly concentrated and not part of any illusion.
Order is the “source” of all soul energy, and distributes it, through these rifts, apparently called the “Nexus”, which connects all of spacetime (Also accounted by the Chaotic Proxies, who apparently use it as well to move across reality), to living beings. This has not been determined by Sensers, who usually just see it slowly fed into a being following conception and during growth, especially that of the brain. (Soul is the energy of the mind, but mostly of life).
However, it seems that it cannot give without taking, in some kind of balance, and so it can re-distribute soul once more. It is also apparent, that within the brazier (As Order appears for most Reapers), or just within the “melting pot” of soul that appears to all regardless of its exterior form or environment, soul is separated and any sort of stable conscience and density is eliminated.
Since spirits can remain conscious inside Reapers, as has been proven by multiple sensers over long periods of time, it must be done here, or reincarnation would exist, though I personally fancy this concept. However, it could also be thought that soul energy is almost always disconnected during distribution among the many branches. Further details are unknown and investigations still seek to find out more about what exactly goes on in the realm of Order, or if any of our current ideas are correct at all.
The need to regain soul explains the existence of Reapers, who, souls intertwined with a fragment of Order itself (in theory), act as “Janitors” in order to absorb soul at any density, and to bring it back to Order, adding it to its “melting pot”, allowing it to be made indeterminable once again, then redistributed into developing life forms across the “multiverse”. Reapers are created from intelligent races, and there may be, according to Order and passed on from them, even hundreds on a planet at a time, though it has been recently said that there are about 53 on ours.
Despite their high quantity, apparently, every single Reaper across all of existence comes to the same place to feed the soul energy they collect back to Order. However, according to several Reapers, they can only see other Reapers if order wishes them to, and they are mostly isolated along with Order in this realm. This brings into concepts the rules of the multiverse, how soul works in other realities, and just how “real” this location is if it has been built to be tread upon by an infinite amount of different beings.
Often, Reapers are handpicked from certain places and among physical and mental health conditions to best serve their purpose in cleaning souls, and oftentimes, from the dead. This is supposedly to “Allow them to experience what those they condemn have all faced”, though there may be logistic reasons behind this. However, regardless to their state of life or death, the fragment of Order controls the body, with the former body’s owner’s soul within it, which results in the death of the body. The body is preserved regardless by energy provided, seemingly endlessly, by the fragment, and it is thought that it comes from Order’s main body to some extent.
It is notable that, besides allowing them to continue “existing” and controlling the body, Order often does not control this fragment, and this job is given instead to the soul within it, who is the actual Reaper (the former inhabitant of the body), essentially giving them “almost life”. Notably, their eyes and ears, physically dead, are now some form of magic sensory apparatus and feed back into the soul to be perceived, and the direct mental and physical connection to the fragment back to Order cannot be perceived by the soul, which can only manipulate the direct fragment which they are contained within as if it was their own.
Order has been shown to be able to take control whenever they’d like though, and to even be able to manipulate the soul inside their fragment to both deliver messages, and to eject the soul, which will “retire” the Reaper. This has been witnessed several times, and usually, moments after, an Angel will appear to take back the fragment, presumably re-inserting it into Order’s main body. It is also known that the soul takes a while to get used to its new situation, and that Order itself will control the body for however long it takes. The giving of control to the former mortal is often thought to be a result of Order being unwilling to expend too much energy on long distance connection back to its fragment, and to not multitask on manipulating potentially an infinite amount of vessels at once.
Besides this, the fragment and soul extend out of the body like that of a senser, but with more unnatural and veiny tendrils, the material of order being described by sensers both inside and outside the lifeless body of the Reaper as “cold” to the touch, or simply difficult to comprehend, harming the senser, despite Order being the supposed origin of Soul energy. Though, the soul inside remains surprisingly normal in how it is perceived.
This also serves a similar function to that of a senser, but it seems that they can control Soul with a much higher extent, perhaps due to their connection, or just as a power the fragment, and the soul to extension, was granted. It is equally notable as well that these tendrils cannot sense matter or other forms of energy as a Senser can, but only Soul energy. Once again, this is believed to be a demonstration of Order itself withholding unnecessary resources from its Reapers.
To contain soul energy in their body to collect and bring back to Order, they simply consume it within their own soul. Unlike a possession, in which the same process occurs, the victim soul energy is simply consumed and dissipated from within, exactly as spirits sometimes consume smaller ones. This is probably due to their powerful control over Soul energy, and thus the soul energy has no control over them and is simply stored. When feeding the collected soul to Order, it is then removed (somehow without complications) by the Reaper simply using self-soul manipulation.
How effects are not felt from having more soul is unknown, and their immediate connection is dubious, according to some studies, though it may be a similar method to how Constellations may still retain a semblance of a human conscience… Really, I don’t know too much about that, and only a few theories remain plausible (the ones you just read). Reapers, and Order along with them, are still a strange and difficult subject due to how elusive they are, and how Reapers can be generally dangerous, especially to sensers…
The exposed and external facets of a senser’s soul can be immediately manipulated by Reapers, completely extracting it at worst as if unwinding a ball of yarn, while the strongest sensers would only be able to wound it. This is one of the most horrifying ways to become Shattered and has been witnessed, unfortunately, on one or two occasions. If one can sense a Reaper, it might already be too late to withdraw it, and instead it is said to just draw away and remain calm to not seem a threat. Though, this has also been used positively for removing Curses swiftly, where it may be a painful and long process to be done by a senser, and one that the Curse would need to comply to.
Regardless, with a dead body that does not feel pain and does not require food or water due to the strange matrix of it being puppeteered and maintained by a fragment of Order controlled similarly, but not exclusively, by Soul, as if the fragment was its own, along with basic senses and a strong connection to Soul, able to manipulate it to almost dangerous levels of precision and power, and, rarely, Reapers are highly proficient at their supernatural “clean-up” job.
Reapers are brought back, through the “Nexus” to Order on New Moons, apparently, which has also been proven fairly easily, and has applied to all Reapers who talked about it. This trip is required for both repairs to their body and so that the soul can be fed back to the flame, according to several Reapers, though this process can also be performed off-schedule in times of need, especially if the body becomes maimed and their job becomes difficult to perform, mostly in the case of movement.
The Nexus is also used to transport Reapers to places where they are further needed, or even to other realities. It seems as if the Nexus, connecting everything, is used as a channel for both Souls to reach its body, and for it to return, brought by Reapers. There have been anomalous reports, though, of Reapers apparently “figuring out” how to use their fragment of Order to manipulate the Nexus themselves, teleporting at will, further contributing to their negative qualities of spontaneously disappearing. Whether Order intends for this is unknown, but it has only been witnessed in a few records, ever.
This is only a short summary of the aspects of Order and Reapers, but it will have to do, for now. Angels, or Seraphs, depending on whom you ask, on the other hand, are a more short discussion; vessels purely controlled by Order who bring with them, from the realm in which Order resides, a fragment of it, in order to create a new Reaper. Though they apparently exist, according to a few Reapers, it is not even known if they are worth mentioning as they are theoretical and unknown, and seemingly do not appear in a consistent form.
