I just got my hand on a marking scroll, and then immediately after a goldsight lol. But man, when I started to use it i didn’t expect much, just to learn some of the stupidest places count as different parts a treasure can be placed in and also how big some other places are. I used my shovel on blasted rock and I’m pretty sure that covered 1/5th of the island.
Thing is, most regular players don’t have the enchant I assume, and thus most don’t understand how digging treasure chests works and take a couple steps before digging again. Which should be wrong, but because of how some parts are placed, it’s not entirely wrong to do that. I wish I had a screenshot/video right now of digging right next to the treasure part but it not counting.
yeah some might argue the enchant isnt hard to get as i got it 1/2th way through my exotic scroll but still im assuming i got extremely lucky there.
I honestly think it shouldnt be something you get as a basic function of the shovel
Regular charting is a good learning experience [albeit, som of the spots on the map are ridonkulous, why does the far north and far east side of Palos beaches share parts???]
The point of regular charting is for you to get a grip of what the charting means – god forbid you start out with marking but not know what “north northwest” means. Or even worse, not have a grasp of where a few paces or the edge of an island even is [looking at shell island and frostmill behatingly]
Marking is very nice, goldsight is even better – I think they should be earned after people get a grasp of charting as a newbie
eh, i kinda see what you mean. my main issue is just how absurd some parts are seperated sometimes. even revealing for 5 seconds on a regular shovel could probably fix it tbh
I think a good compromise would be to have the base shovel highlight the brick you’ve just dug into, and have it go away a second or two later. That way players can get an idea of how the system works while not making the marking enchantment useless.
