This is where I randomly post the power systems from my worldbuilding project, which is a science-fantasy world where races have conquered entire universes, not because of their advanced technology (or at least their predecessors did) but because of the Orphidium River, a colossal river of energy that can transport people across the multiverse. Each universe has its own power system and although there are about 20 here, there used to be thousands though war weeded out most of them (also do note that I am not going to be posting in this thread religiously so its not gonna be daily). The power system I will be talking about rn is Mystic Jewels, the very first power system I created.
Mystic Jewels: Mystic Jewels is a well known power system that originates from the Kryzalos universe. Essentially, people from Kryzalos can use crystals to utilize an invisible energy that exists on another plane of existence: Ethos. The user must have the crystal within their line of sight so that this Ethos passes through the crystal and is converted into energy or matter. The effect of the crystal varies from crystal to crystal. For example, projecting Ethos through a ruby allows you to telekinetically control anything you can see through the ruby while projecting Ethos through a diamond converts it into beams of searing light. But, before you can even project Ethos through a crystal you have to spiritually bind yourself to a crystal or multiple of them if they are compatible enough with each other and you, which effects the proficiency of your abilities. The history of Ethos and how it came to be as well as the crystals that project them into the physical world is kinda complicated and I don’t really feel like talking about it but what I will talk about is how the seven main crystals are rubies, topaz, citrines, emeralds, diamonds, sapphires, and amethyst. Any other crystals like for example malachite are derived from one or more of these crystals (also speaking of malachite, this doesn’t only work for crystals. It also works for gemstones because that’s cool. How you see through gemstones? I never thought of that I just thought of it now I’ll think of smth). There is also a single origin point of the seven crystals as well as what are called divine crystals such as Xinjiang Fluorite: Quartz. The abilities of quartz are mostly unknown but it is theorized to have near unlimited energy, though we’ll never know because no one can use it besides a certain god that is responsible for all of these crystals. But anyways, there are some risks when projecting Ethos and it has to do with that alternate plane itself. Ethos is not the only thing in that realm that can be projected through a crystal. Beings called Ethos Wraiths can partially enter the physical world if you are not careful. These Ethos Wraiths cannot be harmed by most crystals and their attacks are not physical but instead drain your energy rapidly, meaning that simply slipping up how you conjure Ethos can be extremely fatal. Ethos Wraiths are a near inevitable experience during prolonged battles so its advised to end them quickly before its too late.
Some things about Kryzalos: The most powerful kingdom in Kryzalos is Arsylum, which has recently rose to power for very unknown reasons. Apparently they were able to develop an Exousia, otherwise known as an extremely powerful superweapon, to wipe out the rest of their competition after tens of thousands of years of war… the universe of Magaru should take notes! But, there are some rumors that this Exousia was actually a person that could utilize Quartz, only they were enslaved to do the bidding of Arsylum and here we are. We’ll probably never know, though, because at the Battle of Degrevarth, the Exousia malfunctioned and attacked everything indiscriminately until it was put down. What a bummer.
I might talk about other things in this thread besides power systems because I’ll eventually talk about all of them so stay tuned for that.
