personally i still feel that merchant is slightly better since i dont imagine needing to use enchanter much
the heal crew by 20% can pull you out of some tough spot but if you need that to keep your crew alive then mostly likely you’re already going to lose, the damage reduction doesnt seem to be very useful ( depending on how long it last ig )
Same, I dont really go to second range much as well unless Im with a group. And my chests arent that much (though, I may need to go there for some stuff for my build soon)
most of my genuine runs qualify for true captain, it’s way easier to get than it sounds and, with the deckhand professions, even easier now
the run i did get it on was a huge haul between fishing for an hour and grabbing a ton of sealeds, which i got my warship sail from
its honestly disappointing now seeing how easy it is to get a different colored name on the board, compared to something like master angler. true captain is more of “i passed the dark sea competency and rng check” and less of a skills/endurance test unfortunately.
yeah it took me literal months ( and a lot, A LOT of rng ) to get bronze sea explorer
took me like, a month or 2 at most to get true captain, would have been way earlier cause the only thing stopping me from doing so was me being lazy lol
to reply to the original topic though, if you still haven’t decided i might honestly hold off on picking for another day or two, to see if merchants receive any other changes. vetex dragged them back and forth over the course of a few days and im not sure if hes done balancing them.
quit ao temporarily before diving and only came back at dark sea, i got bronze sea explorer.. three? days ago (and expert angler last night!!)
all i did was stock up on some waterbreathing brews, get my bow out (bye bye sharks(why is a bow more effective underwater than magic)) and go from dive site to dive site. i started with one i found on accident, got sea charts from it, infinite looped and went from 20% to 100% over the span of a couple hours
