what’s the point of rough seas existing? it’s such an annoying and pointless mechanic and I can’t see the reasoning behind why vetex thought it’d be a good idea to implement it. It’s not like there’s anything interesting about it, it’s just “oh your ship is going to take a lot of damage if you sail through here”… ok, and for what??
At least whirlpools have lurkers. Rough seas are just there to make sailing on a new file a hassle.
Also it took me hundreds of hours to know about lurkers and even with those whirlpools are also just there to make my life miserable.
Actually there are many things that Vetex added that I don’t know what do they really add to the game quality like the dirt that gets stuck on your character or the character getting injured after 2 boss fights.
Well, I will agree. This thing should be reworked. For example: Make it deal percentage damage, cuz right now it ruins new players life and does nothing to high lvl players (like really, try sailing there with a rowboat, then a brig).
its the same reason why water poisoning exists
it just exists to annoy the player
it seems like he has an avid fixation on making the game realistic and immersive but ultimately not many people care about it or they actually even complain about it (tanning/dirt for example)
apparently he wanted to add voice chat to the game but didnt like how the mic bubble appeared ontop of your character which could possibly break immersion or something, although im pretty sure no one would care
Probably variety in sea events and just to have another one too so the sea isn’t just a flat non interactable thing and just to be more realistic too. Also ao’s kind of a sea based game if you really think about it so having rough seas just to enforce that even more is a good idea also it’s a stat check for your ship
