Are you saying there’s a difference between robbery and stuff?
you’re a dumbass
so logic is subjective?
This in itself is a universal claim about what objectively exists. Contradiction
Cuz its breaks balance.
-
We collectively as a society has deemed it bad
-
Taking away a life, a person’s very own matter of existence
technically someone might not see murder as bad, if they’re deluded enough they could see murder as an “escape” or “freeing”
It depends. It’s bad in a case where there is literally no good reason for it.
If your life is in danger, and you have to kill someone to save it, I’d say it’s just.
But if you just see some dude walking down the street and jump him, that is just psychopathic. That’s bad.
Murder in war would be okay, because they are willingly going out to fight for their country(sometimes).
Why won’t you just let this thread die? You know how I’ll respond:
But why tho?™
From where/what/who does this right derive? What if I decide that dickhead at the store doesn’t have a right to life?
But why tho?™
Why isnt murder good?
surprised i haven’t said anything on this topic ;-;
depends on what answer u want. you can have the absolute grand scheme of things or the more aligned with existence answer
Murder is bad because I said so and I’ll be mad at you if you do it
The reason why it’s considered bad is because, even though you think x person should die, someone else may think that YOU deserve to die, and society in general thought that it’s best to not die because life is cool n all and that’s why nowadays we think murder is bad
To summarize: murder bad because someone else may do it to me, therefore we must ban it!
And before you talk about “but why am I affected by these rules?”, good question! Kings were above the law and as such could easily get away with murder. People got pissed at kings n such because of other things and decided to make kings not above the law, either by the king voluntarily passing an act saying everyone will be affected by the laws or by violent mob overthrowing you.
Basically: if you murder people, other people may murder you, and some weirdos realized that this would make a never ending cycle because people are stupid and petty and dumb so they decided to ban murder altogether and when people see something is banned then they think it’s bad because it got banned for being bad
But why tho?™
From where/what/who does that right derive? If you’re just asserting that life is a right, then I’ll just assert that murder is a right and my right to murder supersedes your right to life. If we can just assert that random things are rights, then you better sleep with one eye open.
The general vibe I’m getting from this thread is that morality derives from society. I think that’s dumb and you all are dumb for stating it and you all should compensate me (USD preferred) for having to read it, you dummies.
Society used to think that abolition was bad, and that universal suffrage was bad, and that cross-gartered yellow stockings were bad. What if society is equally wrong about murder? Do you all really think society was wrong about everything until the past decade (when you started becoming socially/politically aware) at which point the majority opinion suddenly clicked into place and became objectively correct about everything and now any progressive-leaning individual has all the right social opinions and there’s no need to evaluate anything ever again? That’s dumb. Do murder.
did you read what I said anyways
I wasn’t responding to you, just the thread in general. Your reply seems to be kinda morally nihilistic, saying that things like murder are only wrong because society runs smoother when fewer people go on murder sprees. In other words, there are some pragmatic arguments against murder, but no moral arguments against it.
I could talk about religion and how God said not to kill people, but I won’t for a lot of reasons.
There are a lot of reasons as to why killing another person is bad, general human decency being one of them.
