Since the Player and Morden are friends, Morden is considerably closed and doesn’t tell anything about the past since the Player has lost their memory. At the start of the game knowing the Player has lost their memory he tells the Player he should go to Redwake, if they’re friends why wouldn’t he want the player to travel with them. Morden could be innocent but there’s a few things that don’t add up about him and with the Death Curse, his mind could be corrupted with the need for power like we’ve seen before.

Just wait until Nimbus sea is out, cuz here is no proofs at all, just theories.
We read volume 1 of his journal, he’s yet to display any malicious intent in it even after obtaining the death curse.
Definitely possible that further down the line the curse effects of the curse lead to a confrontation with morden or a plot thread where he deals with internal conflict
Tbh, in a different perspective. Morden has been through a lot since the experimentation. Lost his family, tucker, etc. And now with mc memories gone, perhaps he think it would be best to let them go, away from all the horror and nightmares of the experiment and become a new person. Perhaps thats what morden wish for the mc at dawn island, a fresh start, and the capability to make new memories along the way. Even though we forgot him, deep down he hopes for the best to us

Concidering from his book, he really wants to get on tracks and he literally has no reason to hold a grudge on us since both MC and Him were experimented and knew eachother
I think he’s just an introverted guy, and looking over his dialogue and journal entries, he just wants us to focus on our future and leave the past behind. Also he did say that he wanted some time to himself at the very start of the game, from what I remember. I mean, he lost one of his friends, which we most likely had no memory of, so of course he’d want to grieve by himself, I don’t really blame him tbh.
