I think you guys don’t realise that he is wielding the power of DEATH ITSELF. Imagine how horrifying it is, i don’t remember but i heard that death magic is verrrrrry painful and i think he just wants to use responsibly since it’s in the same level of power as the curse that OBLITERATED AN ENTIRE KINGDOM. Y’all be hating on him a lot
rn we haven’t seen much character development, given that only one of 7 war seas has its story complete, alongside the other being nigh incomplete, although it is funny that he opposes Neviro going back to Ravenna sternly but calmly states he doesn’t want to kill
i don’t fucking blame him
argos is a beast
six… six, not seven…
woops
chop chop death boy we need ur help
Morden crank that soulja boy
WHY DID YOU FIGHT A SON OF WOTAN?! YOU’RE FIGHTING AN EXPERIENCED CURSE USER SO YOU CAN SEE EVERYONE AROUND YOU DIE!
THINK, MORDEN!
YOU’LL GET YOURSELF AND ALL OF SAMERIA KILLED! YOU’LL LIVE TO SEE THE WAR SEAS BE CONQUERED BY KERAXE! EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING YOU KNOW WILL BE GONE. WHAT WILL YOU HAVE AFTER 500 YEARS?!
(complete sentence, fuck morden)
The thing about morden is that I get what vetex was trying to do with his character, but its “development points” feel extremely sudden with the lack of buildup and incredibly easy-to-miss establishing
the infamous “I don’t want to kill.” line COULD have had weight, like if they made cutscenes where morden goes overboard using his curse and gets horrified at the destruction he’s caused during the castello raid. If they actually built up the line better, it could have actually had weight as a big point for his character, but instead it either gives you complete whiplash or makes you go “what the fuck do you mean???” because there was no buildup except for a sentence in a journal you probably didn’t even know you had until you specifically looked for it
Let’s be honest, most people didn’t read it even if they did know they had it
“I’ll have the AO MC ”
julian*
maybe he means he doesn’t want to kill random pirates for no reason, because he knows a single blow from his curse is overkill for anyone there and he doesn’t want to be a murderer. Knocking the pirates is enough and the mc and iris can do that, morden can’t because he’ll just kill them if he uses his curse and there’s no use in wasting stamina and potentially getting hurt by trying to use physical force
I was using that quote as an example of the reactions people in the community had to the line, but yeah good explanation
It’s reasoned when you think about how he has the power to fill the world with the concept of death, but since nobody ever makes the connection to it in the story, it doesn’t have any weight and we see him not wish to kill for virtually no reason.
This prompts one question: what happens with the permanence of concept based curses? It’s not like death is a physical thing like wood or fire, yet it still gets created out of the curse despite lives not being lost. Could a patreon ask this question for me?
i wish morden a slow and painful death
fun fact
death and apocalypse bringer are attempted imitations of chaos hence the dark and teal color scheme
so does death and apocalypse bringer make you insane since they’re imitations of chaos
