Save certain food/potion effects and choices like imbuement or whether a player should respawn at their brig bed.
Reasoning
Players can disconnect from the game at any time which can lead to them losing out on expensive effects such as luck. The wasting of ingredients is frustrating and this happening repeatedly can be very demotivating.
It’s sometimes not possible to stay in-game for the full length of some cooked meal effects. These effects can last more than hour. This is especially an issue for casual players who have limited time to play the game as they may have to log off before their effect ends.
Features like imbuements (on builds that have multiple options), or selected cannonballs (both on ships and with cannon fist) will have to be set every time a player joins the game which is an unnecessary hassle and breaks immersion.
Proposal
The address the issues above, the following effects and features will save when leaving and joining the game:
Saved Effects
All positive food effects
Specific potion effects:
Water Breathing
Clearsight
Sharkrepel
Warding
Luck
Saved Features
Fighting Style features:
Selected cannonballs
Meters such as seawater and heat
Selected cannonballs on ships
Imbuement choices
Ship respawn points (Whether the Brig Bed is enabled or disabled)
Waist lantern equips
Conclusion
I feel this suggestion, if it got implemented would give players a less frustrating and smoother gameplay experience. Is anything listed above problematic to save? Or is there something that’s missing? If anyone has feedback please let me know.
I met a new player who had just gotten his juggernaut awakening, explained the patrimony imbue and from then on I had to remind him every 10 minutes to make sure that he was still on patrimony imbue since it quietly swaps back to Divine Spirit imbue every time you die or relog
The saved effects are the most important part of the suggestion. Saved features is mostly there because I sat down and thought “What is everything else could be saved?” Since I like to take my suggestions as far as reasonably possible. At most the features being saved would free up a minute of setting things up each time you join the game
On thermo it doesn’t really matter, I just put it there for consistency.
For Sailor Style seawater saving would be convenient as it would save a couple seawater bottles here and there.
On Cannon Fist no one uses default cannonballs, so they’d have to swap them everytime they use them. It’s similar with ships, I don’t really use anything other than heavy exploding cannonballs so it’d be nice if they were already selected as soon as I go onto the wheel.
For ship respawn points there was a whole poll on vetcord on whether it should be enabled by default or not. Although if people’s choices was saved then it wouldn’t really matter both sides would be happy.
Nobody remembers waist lantern and I don’t know why
It’s free passive lighting
Maybe a debuff if you’re in PvP since then your enemies can see you easier but you can always turn it off
to me it seems unnecessary, Ship respawn points as in candle spawns? it seemed like you were speaking about saving respawn points to be location specific when you rejoin
thermo bar and sailor bar aren’t that hard to charge, I’d rather not keep them, and either way it doesn’t really make sense for those to save so id rather not bring the chance to bring in moree bugs
cannon fist needs a rework honestly, I think selection lock for it is ok but i wish it just gets a set use instead and be balanced around
The ship respawn point suggestion isn’t about changing how respawns work. All it’d change is saving if your brig bed is enabled or not when you dock your ship so you don’t need to set it each time
Savants post-second-awakening are going to be complaining nonstop about having to re-set the imbues on all 3 weapons, all 3 spirit weapons, their magics/FStyle, and the one extra they get from first awakening every single time they relog or die
