I like to think that the odd colony of people corrupted by Acheron to become uncontrollably violent towards outsiders didn’t end from starvation and each other’s selfishness.
Much like the other surviving cultures around the Seven Seas moving to Magius for a better life, I like to imagine the Crazy Wizards caught on and decided to come along too. The Crazy Wizard culture advanced with the others, and although they never formed up like they did back on Newground Island ever again, the magic insanity caused by Acheron was passed down through generations, just as Curses can be.
Crazy Wizards and their descendants eventually became known as Dark Wizards, and their origin in the Seven Seas was lost due to lack of documentation. Acheron’s influence has left a large quantity of people with little control over themselves wreaking havoc across Magius, and aside from the rampant bandit clans, they exist as the biggest threat to the new world.
Heck, some of the Dark Wizards and criminals will just randomly psychotically laugh. Tell me there’s a better reason for them to be doing that, other than this.
To clarify further the crazy wizards were revived by Durza/Acheron’s dead revival magic. Normally this would put them under his control, but since he wasn’t trying to revive them intentionally they were revived without orders and went crazy.
Pretty interesting headcannon though that they regained enough sanity to make their own population of dark wizards
It’d be the only logical, in-lore explanation for why there were seven random wizards on Newground Island in the first place. Unless if Durza could order them to deliberately head there, but that sounds like a waste of time, since the only other people there were the PK (revived accidentally and ashes happened to form there), and Theos (sent there by some ship-breaking attack).
