My OC stories: lemons and dragons

“What a great harvest today.”

Rejoicing, I continued to pick up giant lemons and putting them in my bag.

"I have to say that I find quite baffling how much enthusiasm you direct to those enlarged fruits, even with such a spectacular view in front of you.

Does the look of it not make your blood boil?"

“More than boil, it would make my blood freeze if this thing still had blood itself.”

“Surely you jest. It’s the dream of every warrior to clash against such a mighty foe and slay it with all of one’s strength.”

"Your dream sounds like a nightmare to me.

I’d prefer to kill them from afar, if possible from their blind spot."

"Worry not, my friend.

I’m not so inflexible as to judge a warrior from the ways and tools that he uses to slay his opponents.

I myself am quite impatient to test my blades on this beast though."

The beast to which this overly zealous hothead was referring to was a colossal winged lizard, commonly called dragon.
A dead one more specifically, its skeleton spanning the entire island, as if sleeping atop it.

On the highest peak, near the skull, me and my two temporary travel companions were speaking while I was busy collecting lemons, my reason for coming to this island.

Their goal, however, was different.

The first, the man that I was talking to, was dressed in a red robe, with a pair of long swords at his waist.

As I had discovered while talking to him during the travel to the island, his personality was quite fiery and standing next to him gave the impression of being near a fireplace.

The other one, a white haired woman that, from her attire, seemed to be the attendant of the man, rarely spoke and mostly stood at his side in silence.

"I heard stories in my homeland, of how beasts like this emerged from the dark fog, raiding and burning everything in their way, until slayed by the blades of mighty warriors, but this overwhelming feeling …

Still, how could I call myself a warrior if I let myself be intimidated by an opponent that cannot even strike back."

Saying this, the man unsheathed his swords.

If before he gave off the warm feeling of a cozy fireplace, suddenly the intensity changed to that of an erupting volcano.

Unleashed from the man, the searing heat surged to then dwindle, wrapping itself around the blades, dying them ashen.

Twisting his back and arms, he gathered all his strength and energy, before unleashing a single blow at the neck of the skeleton, as if trying to behead it.

Even after we had taken distance, the shockwaves of the impact reached me and his companion, threatening to make us fall from the cliff.

As I braced myself by stabbing my blade into the ground, the woman simply thrusted her palm in front of herself.

From thin air, a wall of thick ice manifested, shielding her.

After the dust settled, the result that appeared was that, even after that tremendous shock, the bone of the dragon was intact, its incredible magic energy density protecting it from any harm.

"To think that I couldn’t even dent it.

I have a long way to go."

“Cough cough!! Oi!! I almost fell off from the cliff!”

“Ahahah, sorry about that.
But to think it would be this sturdy.
As expected of a dragon.”

" … I don’t get it though, why try to behead it?

Wouldn’t stabbing its heart be less cumbersome?"

“The dragons of the stories that I heard were beheaded though.”

“That sounds troublesome.”

"Indeed it does.

Ahahahaha!!"

" … So? Are you going to try again?"

"I will.

I didn’t hope that I would succeed the first time from the beginning.

But not now.

I accomplished what I was requested to, so it’s time for me to go back."

"I see.

Will you depart soon?"

"Quite.

But don’t worry, I got more than enough time to have a drink with a friend before.

Just follow me.

I’ll show you the place with the most beautiful waitresses of Sameria.

Ahahah!!"

“Looking forward to it.”

Just then, a chilling voice came from behind him, as a slender hand firmly gripped his shoulder.

" … explain … "

Taking advantage of the opening, I began to walk toward the boat, leaving my foolish companion to his fate.
