Exploration and discovery.
Filling out a map with new information.
That’s remains too vague to be a profession, “exploration and discovery” is first of all; two things, wouldn’t work with profession’s specific singular thing.
Secondly, What does exploration and discovery entail? what specific functionality does it allow the player to do?
no its not?
the entire point of exploration is to discover.
if you explore and fail to discover things, your exploration was a failure lol.
brother you’re just arguing semantics with me. Should cooking gain an XP bar for every type of food you can cook? I don’t think cooking 10 million burgers is going to give you a single piece of useful knowledge to make a perfect smoothie. They’re two different tasks.
just say you don’t like the suggestion instead of trying to do all this mental gymnastics junk.
The difference between talents and professions isn’t the method by which you progress them.
While yes, that is a difference, that isn’t the important one.
The important difference is impact and accessibility.
Talents are supposed to provide a tangible difference to how you play the game that you otherwise could not do.
Professions are additions/benefits to things you were already doing.
Talents are quick to level, professions are slow.
I don’t dislike the suggestion, nor do I like it, I am neutral about it, don’t try and twist it towards making me the bad guy.
No, I never said every aspect of a profession should have an XP bar, I am saying that the cooking profession is exclusively for cooking, not a collection of tasks, that’s by design of professions, not by real life knowledge.
Define cooking then and tell me how every single wildly different meal fits into the same order of operations, if you want to argue semantics atleast be consistent about it.
Anyways none of that is at all important.
What matters is the gameplay intent.
Does this profession sound like a build choice for you to play into with new tools or a passive benefit to existing features?
We could argue semantics for hours and it’d be useless in the face of that.
I intended it to just be extra QOL to help with gameplay, being able to navigate stuff easier, having more useful camp markers, and an easier time getting through the dark sea
yeah I get that, that’s why I said it’d be a crappy talent lol.
dunno why they seem to think the only important part of the concept is the method of progression.
aside from seeing the epicenter I think this is pretty good actually, I was expecting it to be mid as hell but the perks seem actually pretty well balanced, good job.
because they need something to complain about
yeah i put in an edit saying epicenter would get 2 potential locations, also remember i stated places u have found before
turns out i forgot to nention that, but there
Why are you using the old Nimbus map?
i got it off google idk
prob gonna use photoshop to update my stylized map
It’s important to actually properly define how the system mechanic would work. Not really that they just needed something to complain about.
