this was something that was in aa already with the exception of special chests (instead each ghost ship gave a special item) which was before sot came out so its not really sot inspired

the rest you could make an argument for but at the same time both these games are based around pirates so obviously theyre gonna have overlap where they get ideas from the same places

There also be new types of amulets, perhaps ones that give mixed stats. Like, power and attack speed (at reduced potency of course)

You caught me, funny pirate game player here. :mariomug: :raised_hand:

I really enjoy playing Sea of Thieves, and when I find myself getting bored of AO, I often switch over to SoT because it provides a more engaging and fun pirating experience. It would be great to see some of its content incorporated into AO in a way that doesn’t feel like a complete copy, such as Winds of Fortune. For example, the treasure map in SoT is better than the treasure charts in AO, so it would be nice to see something similar implemented in AO.

Originally, the Fortress siege in AO was intended to be focused more on PvP and capturing islands, but it proved to be too difficult to balance with AO’s multiplayer, so I ended up using a version of the Forgotten Forts from SoT.

I came up with the idea of Sealed Sunken Chests before playing SoT (which I only started playing a few weeks ago), but it happens to be similar to SoT’s treasuries. While I’d like to see something similar to treasuries in AO, I’m not sure if it would fit in with the game’s mechanics.

The concept of Cursed Sealed Chests was inspired by the cursed chests in SoT, but I tried to incorporate it with AO’s mechanics and lore. I think it adds an interesting element to keep an eye on chests that pose a threat.

Ghost ships were in AO’s predecessor, Arcane Adventures, and I got the idea from a Trello board. The only similarity to SoT is the Ghost Sealed Chests, which are similar to the Chests of the Damned in SoT.

Yes, I pretty much took chest ideas from Sea of Thieves and tried to fit them into AO. Sealed chests were already inspired from chests mechanics in SoT so it felt only natural to expand on their foundation using SoT as inspiration.

altho i wouldn’t want other ppl to steal all dem chests… skill issue i guess

just a quick idea but how about adding a badge for opening every variation of chests(or smth else)

anti-light lanterns maybe

Oh I see. Yeah I was aware that things would overlap and I never meant it in a harsh way, I simply just showed the similarities between the chests and features. I haven’t played AA, only WoM and AO, so I had no clue that ghost ships were a thing. I love both AO and SoT so I just saw similarities and I thought it was cool that they were similar.

That is a lot of info but I’m happy that at least some of the mechanics were from SoT and you were inspired. I like all of the ideas you came up with and some of the new mechanics you thought of (especially the cursed sealed chest).

I like the sunken sealed chests idea.

uh oh was that always there? am i blind? :frcryin:

You know an undersea fortress at abyssal levels of the sea would be a really cool structure
And imagine if it was filled full of sunken sealed chests
