Next Update Waterbreathing Gems

in the end i dont care too much how it goes but infinite breathing underwater is pretty fun, shame it has to go

i dont think this is a reason for people to get upset though, some of you guys are acting like this is way worse than it actually is

This is such a minor issue that its not worth bringing up to vetex

Itā€™s basically an individual complaining about a VERY VERY minor part of the game which doesnā€™t affect many people to a devastating degree

Diving gems serve as a ā€œPermanent Boostā€ of sorts unlike potions which need to you use them multiple times

These balance/Bug changes are fair and I donā€™t see why two thread were opened for this issue

Can you equip 3 potion statuses at time? Because for the new abyssal Structures is want luck to increase the chances at sunken, possibly a new effect (or clearsight) to actually see in these structures, could be replaced with revealing, and obviously water breathing which canā€™t be circumvented with gems (idk if you can get multiple statuses with other methods of consumption)

Vetex should have fixed this bug a long time ago and not caused this messā€¦

rn no but others suggested allowing 3 potion effects in specific circumstances (some effects would be considered to not affect combat and not count toward the limit) and i believe meta took note

holy shit how is this tiny inconsequential bug fix the one thing everyone is complaining about
if it goes through, you can literally just spent 10 seconds brewing some water breathing potions but yall acting like itā€™s bringing back prenerf pulsar again

no lie this is not a big deal (RIP to everyone who were trying to make waterbreathing diving builds just before this though)
Imo the thing people should be criticizing is the diving system
if people are mad that no infinite waterbreathing makes diving worse then thats a fault of the diving rather than anything else
diving just needs to be made more fun to do normally (stuff like dedicated diving gear or the diving bell would help enormously imo)

right now its either you use a bunch of waterbreathing gems or chug potions and thats not very enjoyable for many people (which i think is why a lot of people are so mad about this change)

i still dont understand why the diving helmet accessory doesnt give some sort of oxygen buff or something, but yea dedicated diving accessories would be cool

No he should have made this a game feature if he wants diving to actually be used by players

Iā€™d rather diving be made fun, challenging, and rewarding rather than boring, easy, and unrewarding as it currently is.

As long as changes that increase the difficulty of diving are accompanied by buffs to diving Iā€™m completely down.

Actually wait I gave this more thought there is something that does not click in my head.

How long has this bug been in the game without it being fixed?
Since the release of gem crafting 1 year ago?

Its not a small bug its the size of a building.
In order to have spotted this bug all you had was to test it and to have two pair of eyeballs its impossible to miss.

And even then had you actually missed the bug on update release it could be spotted in game.
Surely there are people that figured it out in the first week.
Its not even a secret there are many posts in this forums that mentioned the ā€œfeatureā€

I am unacquainted on how the roblox dev tools work when it comes from doing changes to the code but cant be a lot different from regular good old source control.
Create a branch for the fix test everything is fine and update the source so it gets patched in game.

But the bug is being fixed NOW? 1 year later?
Somehow a bug that is as easy to find as actually trying the water breathing gems went completely unnoticed until recently?
Or has a bug of a game affecting nature been neglected for an entire year?

Bteam already said Vetex reported this himself long ago.
It just wasnā€™t a top priority bug

Players when they discover auric seaweed and sea shells at the bottom of the sea

Comes back up with more waterbreathing potions for the cost of one

We already know that, it is just much less convinient bc:

  1. it takes a potion slot;
  2. if you dont notice that the waterbreath effect ended you will probably drown before reaching the surfice. (ngl there should be a notification for when your potion effects end)

Two issues with that logic,

1 - It should be relatively high priority bug. I believe the difference between twice as much air and infinite air is considerably meaningful to be considered a trivial bug that can be ignored. Hell this whole post was made because its something that was not considered meaningless.

2 - I fail to see how its something that could be ignored for so long because it seems like an easy to fix bug. From my perspective its a logic bug within the calculation and should be something that could be fixed within 1 or 2 lines of code not something that needed to be ignored for 1 year due to being too complex to fix.

I just dont like the idea they leave game changing bugs that can be fixed within 10 minutes unattended for over 12 months because they are ā€œnot top priorityā€

Yeah I think water is extremely unbalanced. Iā€™m not talking about anything in game BTW.

people when balance team is doing a bad job: :rage::-1:

people when balance team are doing their job well enough: :rage::-1:

i dont even know why people are freaking out about this change honestly, it was never intended and you could just make a waterbreathing IV potion instead of trying to completely trivialize content through a bug.

the fact this thread is actually still going is depressing
its practically solved by now and its unending discourse that leads fucking nowhere
you guys are making up the same conclusions over and over and they wont change theres no point in continuing this thread
also all this over waterbreathing gems??? yes the change is inconvenient i 100% agree but this isnt game-ruining or even diving-ruining enough to justify 2 threads of banter
yes i think diving is worse without infinite breathing, yes i think they should add different things to make diving more fun instead of just using gems/potions, but my god this isnt THAT important

would also like to add that please for the good of us all close this thread (its gone the same direction as the last one)

We just got used to how it currently works (since it has been working how it does for a year), and now this have been suddenly brought up again.
Waterbreathing potions are just much less convinient, and nobody likes when devs nerf something that makes the game objectively better for everyone, even if it isnt working as intended.
