Okay, got it, so watermelon potions
Going off of AA’s progression system, spamming attacks in a corner
On the brightside the magic > everything rule will probably even out as technology progresses in the world
Nice cataclysm, small issue, ar15.
The Industrial Consequences and its Revolution
Make tech
Curse users destroy all of it
Repeat
Unless the first tech you make is a high pressured water pump
NGL, I kinda sympathise with this one (even if starting by calling someone work stupid isn’t good)
This is the reason why my file is a warrior instead of a conj.
The fact that the main power system of the verse is decided by luck is a bit of a shame indeed, probably the result of the influence of fairy tale as inspiration.
I pray that the situation will change if in the future it will be explained the method of rising one’ spirit energy, but until magic description says “only those lucky enough to be born with it” I see little hope.
mage supremacy
I mean… lets remember Cyberpunk. In its DLC we have a new ending where V loses ability to use implants, which almost fully ruins all their chances at becoming legend of Night City.
But nobody blame developers for that.
Plus, there are other ways to become powerful. Invent technologies or find a curse cube (or just steal one with devourer). Even Argos managed to reach high rank in a kingdom by just throwing punches.
Imagine AO’s storyline if Argos absorbed cloud curse instead of sending it to the Ravenna.
Losing it and never have been given the opportunity to use it feels kinda different, know what I mean?
Nobody, or at least I, is blaming Vetex for his choice, it’s his story, his game so his decisions.
It just leaves a bad feeling for personal preferences.
There are those that enjoy power systems were you have to be born lucky to become strong (like atla) and there are those, like me, that enjoy more power systems where everyone has a chance.
Personal preference, just that.
Topic starter is talking about extremely powerful people in the story like Cursebeard, Peacekeeper, Theos, Legacy. But they kinda missing the fact that even without magic, its would be extremely hard and luck based to become one of the strongest people in the world.
Talking about realistic and possible things: We already have an example of such achievements - Argos. I am sure that we will get even more of them later in the story.
Usually, people who are lacking abilities that are common in their world, but still managing to become top 1 are either anime main characters with their plot armor or main villains with the same plot armor. So its will be unfair in any way.
You guys misunderstand me, I’m not critiqueing vortexes game and lore, I’m pointing out something I personally don’t like.
i have my own gripes with how magic currently works (unless something changed in the lore doc i didnt see), the stuff with warriors using traces of magic energy kinda confuses me with the new lore with spirit energy (do warriors lose spirit energy by focusing on weapons too much so they can only use trace magic… what about warriors who never had magic)
im guessing all those questions are answered somewhere already but yeah
somewhat unrelated but in terms of fantasy worldbuilding in general I love the idea of normal people being prejudiced against people who can use magic (i love final fantasy 16) but with how AO lore is currently set up that could never become a large scale thing in the world (individual characters at most)
if vetex for some reason decides to make it a lot rarer for people to have magic then I’d like to see something like that shown in-game, i doubt he will though
Aura involves coating either your weapon or yourself in trace amounts of magic within the air, so from my knowledge you don’t even need spirit energy in the first place to use aura.
Also, the whole losing thing only happens for gameplay reasons so even if someone focused on weapons their entire life they would still have access to their spirit energy.
funniest thing is that Vetex has comfirmed that if PK get shot by a gun they will still die like normal, which mean theoretically speaking, current society is perfectly capable of assassinating them
“Take the shot, Revon”
