Notes on the Grand Navy: Offices of the Navy
Grand Navy Office of Archival
Head Office
The Olympian Vault
Commanding Officer: Vice Admiral Feathers
Just after the Astoria Kingdom was reformed into the Grand Navy, it was run just like a military, with a royal court up top. Since then the King Admiral has reorganised it into multiple different Offices to structure the command of the Navy. Offices have a few key details about them that make them so effective for an ever changing force like the Grand Navy.
- Offices do not have a permanent physical location. They can be based wherever is most useful at that time, usually in the Chimera Sea at Headquarters or on The Lord’s Regime, which usually patrols The Aegean Sea however occasionally is within the Chimera, Vimir or Nimbus. Offices are also often found at various Navy bases in all seas, and occasionally temporary Offices are placed in the forefront of battle within the Marauding Sea.
- Offices are often led by a Vice Admiral, however occasionally Rear Admirals or even Commodores are placed in these positions of power.
- Offices are assigned a number of Divisions, oftentimes led by Commodores or Commanders, and either combative or non combative (Administrative, medical, supply, etc).
- Paratiritis do not belong to any Division and are unranked. They do not belong to an Office but are controlled by either their personal CO or the Office of Dispatch and Unit Control.
- Offices can control other Offices.
- All Top Level Offices can create their own orders without direct permission from the Admiralty.
Major offices include, but aren’t limited to:
The Office of Admiralty:
Commanding Officer - King Admiral Adkins.
Contains all the Admirals of the Grand Navy and controls their dispatch and orders.
Oftenfound overstretched, especially recently with increases in Metaforéas trading alongside the war in the Marauding Sea.
The Office of High Command:
Commanding Officer - Rear Admiral Adkins
Manages the distribution of commands to all Top Level Offices and personnel.
The Office of Grand Navy Ranks:
Commanding Officer - Vice Admiral Taurus
Manages the ranking of all non Paratiritis Grand Navy personnel, including the Admirals.
Grand Navy Bounty Service:
Commanding Officer - Rear Admiral Fate
Manages the assignment of bounties to all criminals in the War Seas, as well as deploying posters around major areas of civilisation and providing monetary reward to those claiming bounties.
Grand Navy Notoriety Service:
Commanding Officer - Rear Admiral Swift
Manages the tracking and deployment of troops to track down and eliminate specific threats. Can deploy troops from most other Offices.
The Office of Finance:
Commanding Officer - Vice Admiral Arginteum
Manages the finances of the Grand Navy.
The Office of Human Loss:
Commanding Officer - Vice Admiral Cain
Manages the loss of personnel in the Grand Navy, including recovery of the corpses, ships and burials on Risenheir Bay. Also manages the official reports of death, financial assistance to the bereaved families of fallen Grand Navy members and multiple sections of the Olympian Vault.
The Office for the War against the Corsair Lords:
Commanding Officer - Vice Admiral Santiago
Manages the war in the Marauding Sea. At this current point in time, this is the largest Office active and contains the most troops.
The Office of Archival:
Commanding Officer - Vice Admiral Feathers
Manages the Olympian Vault and all files - bar ones owned by Offices such as The Office of Human Loss, Finance and Admiralty - within it.
The Department of Logistics:
Commanding Officer - Rear Admiral Ajax
Manages logistics and supply for all Grand Navy Offices and Divisions.
The Office of Kingdom Relations:
Commanding Officer - Vice Admiral Tenn
Manages relations between the Grand Navy and other Kingdoms. Ensures all Kingdoms are following the core laws of the War Seas including crimes such as piracy or genocide.
This is not a complete list of Offices, for example there are separate Offices placed in the Grand Navy Base in each sea (Or, in the case of Marauding within the Flagships) which run the individual operations within said sea. Other smaller offices, temporary or not, are also positioned all over the War Seas.
The Office system has come under flak for allowing corruption to gain huge positions of power , and on multiple occasions specific anti corruption Offices have been created to attempt to stop this. The main result of this is that the leaders of the anti corruption forces are bribed and the Offices are shut down.
The King Admiral believes that a large attempt at removing corruption in the Grand Navy would be costly when the main focus should be stopping piracy and other crimes against peace.
