NPC Ships should Sink

Once you disable an NPC’s ship in the game, the ship lingers even after getting its crew cleared by the player. It feels immersive breaking to not have the ship you just shot volleys at sink into the crushing depths of the sea. The suggestion I put forward is that once you disable a ship and clear the crew you can fire another volley to sink the ship rather than just remain an empty husk. Also think it would be cool to stroll to a part of the sea on your boat and witness a graveyard of ships, not knowing who sank them and why. (Clarification, the ship would still despawn eventually like normal.)

ships should only begin sinking after every sealed chest is removed from the ship.

that’s probably why they said you’d need to fire an extra volley to sink them

I added the part that the player should fire an extra volley because what if a player wants to leave a graveyard of disabled ships instead? Let people immerse themselves how they wish to immerse themselves.

I agree, sealed chests already float so it wouldnt harm that, and vetex can probably just use the same code and apply it to normal chests on the boat, or make the boat slowly sink so you have time to jump on and loot everything.

though i dont like the volley part, nobody is going to spend cannonballs just to sink the ship for immersion and it doesnt make sense.

mhhhhh i love having 2 fps

Yeah, this is kinda like that one idea someone had about putting coral and stuff on the sea floor: mostly useless, and a risk to AO’s already questionable performance. Having debris floating in the water and having ships actively sink is neither needed nor beneficial to anyone.

How is it useless when player ships already sink bro :sob:

AO players when they see something being tweaked or added:
“My performance though”

Oh I see why people are complaining now

I didn’t say they couldn’t despawn though, they can despawn like normally after 2-3 minutes but the ship would still sink into the waters after the volley.
