players can now attack the fish that physically spawn underwater instead of them disappearing when the player nears them
upon coming close to a fish it will start moving away, otherwise you cannot attack it (this will prevent ranged fishing such as staying in one place and using magic to farm fish)
different fish will have different abilities:
squids squirt a black ink cloud, giving a status effect similar to shadow (your screen becomes blurry and dark, and your render distance is decreased)
swordfish stab the player, quickly darting around
turtles go into their shell (and get a lot more health when they do)
anglerfish turn their light off (makes it darker)
jellyfish and stingray sting the player (paralyze?)
colossal squids attack/fight back like sharks
different fish will now be found at different levels of the sea, with fish like anglerfish in the deep dark, and stingray staying close to the ground
crabs, snails, etc could also be added to expand on this feature
smaller fish are faster than the average player swimming speed, making them harder to get
the bigger and rarer the fish, the more health
killing a fish will not have the same effect as killing sharks unless they’re really big (around 1/2 of player size) floating up and releasing blood, and will give a bone or two (except for squids)
if more than x fish are killed in x seconds, all fish will swim away from the player until set amount of time (to avoid farming)
So, what’s the point of having one in the first place other than why not? Why not just fish normally?
If there’s no actual point in having one then I don’t think that justifies putting time and effort into implementing this suggestion.
Also, the suggestion title is misleading as it implies a major update to the ocean rather than simply being an alternate way to fish.
Also, I don’t think it’s a good idea to post suggestion of someone who doesn’t have one, they should be the one doing it themselves. But whatever I guess?
I don’t think this reason is good enough to justify the complexity of this suggestion.
I mean, you could just make fishes swim away into the darkness when you come close to it, without needing to make this whole system. Probably achieve the same level of immersion but without needing much effort into it.
There’s nothing in the suggestion post that says that?
You should just post the suggestion yourself instead of making the other people do it. This way you’ll at least have full control over your own suggestions instead of having to play as an amateur digital puppeteer.
Then again the whole reason you’re doing this stuff is because you don’t have a way to post suggestions in the first place I guess? And I don’t think I need to ask moderators to know why you lose your suggestion role lol.
How exactly? All it would do is just change the forum post owner and you wouldn’t have to hope that the guy you’re asking did something bad on your behalf.
The suggestion post itself would still be a suggestion, it won’t turn into anything else.
