Currently, the issue with omen is that it’s extremely RNG reliant and can take an hour or more to spawn if you’re unlucky enough. The amount of time required to get to far reaches is already daunting.
This is a response to many solo and party runs I’ve done where omen never spawned for hours and this may have been an issue with others. Omen may also be an end runner if you’re casually grinding far reaches if you’re also unlucky enough. (And a response for today’s party with 6 others in which the omen didn’t spawn.)
The idea
Omen is no longer an RNG-based enemy but is however a spawn able enemy. In order to spawn Omen, you acquire 25 Kraken Meat from killing krakens. Once you’ve got 25 Kraken Meat, you can create an item known as “Omen Bait” which may be done via special method considering Omen is unlike most bosses being similar level to a “World Boss”.
If the omen bait is created, you’re unable to place it down anywhere exception of the Far Reaches. Once you’ve reached the far reaches, you’re able to hop into the ocean and able to “drop” the Omen Bait into the ocean. Once this happens, you only have about 10 - 30 seconds to get out of there before Omen spawns. Omen de-spawns if all people in aggro range dies or if omen hasn’t been interacted with for 10 minutes.
It’s a simple feature but it can really help out grinding and avoiding omen all together while being in the dark seas and it’s really frustrating having it spawn at unwanted times or never spawn and wasting hour(s) off your time.
You only have to add a radius around islands to prevent it from being spawned right at their beaches or check for part collision on item usage, this is a non-issue.
I prefer we use player as bait. We still need to create the bait, but we need someone to drink it and become bait. The effect called “Kraken Stench” and the effect last for 3 hours. The method would be the same but instead the player are the one required to jump into water.
Is it more practical? Hell no, but I think this is actually cooler. I mean its cool to sacrifice your friend as the Omen getting smack by your teammate.
this would suck.
not only does hunting the omen become literally impossible without a party, you also have to throw one of your friends under the bus and exclude them from the hunt.
To be fair, Omen suppose to be hunted with party. No fricking way 150k hp sea monster suppose to be soloed. I mean its convenience but this thing is basically raid boss. Anyone who play RPG know you ain’t suppose to solo raid boss.
Ofc there should be work around like the bait automatically get the loot if they are the one baiting the Omen.
The hardest part is making sure there wont be 10 new bugs during the hunt.
but like I said, this is just for cool factor not convenience.
