Open Letter to Vetex

To Vetex,

It is objective that the game has declined to the point of obscurity on Roblox. Despite the projected implications that the Guild update would bring on popularity, we have seen little to no activity in the game. Imagine the shock I had when this game of yours, previously housing more than ten thousand at any point in time, dropped from such high prestige to tally only two thousand players the day after an influential update, that is, the guilds update, and now, only around five hundred players at peak hours. Similarly, this effect has expressed itself on the forums, with previously over three thousand threads a week in on-topic discourse and at present, only ninety-nine discussion threads a week. All that remain are simply sycophants or those who, without careful thought, choose to play your husk of a game.
The primary reason that this game has fallen would be the proposed TGR. Though a game must have a stable foundation for future updates (an example of this would be the success of Spaceflight Simulator by Stef Morojna), this TGR does not incorporate the collective community’s ideas. While it seems a population of non-developers can never indeed decide whether or not a game is “good” or not (and some ideas by individuals are truly unwise to implement), it is crucial not to neglect the so-called “wisdom of the crowd” as you have done. Suggestions from the community should be taken much more often, and then the game will be enjoyable. An example of how abiding by a group of consumers increases success would be “Sonic the Hedgehog” (the movie) and “Cats.” “Cats” did not conform to an audience’s wishes and was a major bust for Universal. Simultaneously, “Sonic the Hedgehog” took great labor in redesigning every frame with another version of Sonic and completely redeveloping the movie, therefore becoming a significant success, netting a profit of over $200 million. It seems the TGR has this intention, but I can’t help but notice the game’s lack of community involvement.
Examples of a lack of community involvement would be the most blatantly unpopular feature: getting rid of the continent of Magius and instead, replacing it with several islands as is in Arcane Adventures. This feature of the TGR is terrible and will only lead to the death of your game. Arrogantly saying that you will not revert this change will only damage your reputation as an unpopular developer. I suppose that people might choose Arcane Reborn over this mess because of the non-novelty of what you have done. Getting rid of cultural items such as the Vistarian Spear is disastrous too, for these weapons serve many applications, both in PVP and otherwise, and are essential to customization. Finally, your idea to replace the exiled and minotaur items with unknown compensation only serves to paint you as an ignoramus. Players worked long hours to obtain those items and your belief that replacing those items with inferior quality will somehow help player growth is, for lack of better words, stupid.
Lastly, I seek to address the issue of moderators. You have enacted a spoils system for critical positions in your team instead of using a fair and honest community vote to elect competent individuals (I apologize to the small amount of competent moderators I have met) to positions of power. We now have yes-men who are so ostracized from the community regarding appeals and reports that a “stick-to-the-script” approach is followed. Hardly anything gets done. I shall not name the moderator, but I know a mod who seethes at any constructive criticism offered and refuses to hear one’s case afterward. Does that sound like a good system for you to follow?
Additionally, being paid, or, excuse my language, being bribed by individuals to be moderators and testors will only lead to failure. A moderator from, let us say, Suncry, will be more lenient to issues involving Jasono17 (and I mean no offense to the great Jason who has secured his bid for 1st place on the leaderboard for a very long time) than perhaps a problem involving a rapidly growing smaller guild that could take over Suncry’s spot on the leaderboard. Expression of the issue aforementioned occurs when a plethora of “second chances” were given to some unnamed guilds for alt-farming, yet when another guild alt-farms once, the guild is suddenly and deliberately disbanded. But everybody deserves a seventeenth chance, perhaps?
Hear me out on my solution to these issues.
The TGR must be abandoned and rolled back to increase activity due to widespread community opposition, and more community suggestions on what needs to be done for the game should be followed, with a popular vote deciding the final idea(s). The vote should take place not on the forums, where a limited group of sycophants and simpscan vote, as is the case with your clearly biased and unrepresentative poll of only four hundred, but instead on a website that uses straw polls, with all precautions taken to prevent botting the poll. Additionally, the vote should be announced in the game description and the discord, as well as the trello, to make sure everyone can vote, not just those who simp for you. Most incompetent or inactive moderators should be fired, with the community having a voice in the process, and all new moderators should be chosen based on a community vote. Testers should have to renounce allegiance to any guilds that they may be involved with. I call for you to be considerably more open to new community ideas than you are now. I am sincerely concerned about how any popular ideas that go against your TGR are shouted down or ignored by you. You said once that you “didn’t care” for new ideas or the reversion of your ideas. But taking advice from the audience will help your game grow further. These ideas, if implemented, should make your game significantly better than it is now.
I offer you a choice, Vetex. Will you make your game more popular than it is now, or will you simply ignore this plea from a former developer and blame Roblox for the failure of your game and not yourself?
Feel free to discuss on discord if any issues in interpretation arise.

With Kind Regards,
The Witch-King Of Angmar

Please See: Although I am unpopular, my position as a former developer SHALL NOT be diminished or impacted in any way. I see this as simple and common sense.

Imagine not knowing that people could edit messages to say whatever they want.

I really don’t find this necessary since almost all players know that TGR won’t be here for awhile but will come back to the game once it’s finished since there’s gonna be way more stuff plus proposed repeated updates.

And what role does the community play in those future updates?
That is right, little to NONE.

All future replies will not be answered. Refer to the discord in the description.

after reading this, it sounds like you’re just whining about not being close with the community and aren’t aware of tgr’s purpose

i wish i had the dedication to post a whole essay on implementing some kind of pseudo-democracy to the disc server
