Opinion on this (Vetex statement)

Then that’s on him for CHOOSING to poorly design his game. When the community will inevitably call for a way to change their magic (be it for experimentation, to change colors, or just because they made a bad choice for their build on their first playthrough), he’ll feel pressured to add it. If every other style of combat can be easily changed, singling magic out is unfair towards the players who use it. It’s not the objective best, so it had no reason to be changeable. Thankfully, it was added in some form, however said form is abhorrently designed.

Rare is a massive understatement. 1/12 wouldn’t be TOO BAD if it was in range 1, 2, or maybe even 3. However, that’s a 1/12 chance on an island that’s probably around the size of Mount Othyrs. Even at 1/3, it’d be difficult to find, primarily due to the overleveled atlanteans that inhabit said islands. 1/12 is in no way fair if placed in the far reaches. The argument that you aren’t supposed to get it is also a bad one - he added this of his own free will at the REQUEST - not demand - of the community. However, it was added in a state that was overly difficult for the ultimate reward you’d gain. In exchange for hours of trudging through the DS, you can change your build the same way another class can in at most 30 minutes. Even if he wanted it to be extremely difficult, just putting it in the far reaches would make it tough for most players.

If it wasn’t put in game, the people would’ve kept complaining until it was. Having a singular class permanently defined by a decision made at the start of the game isn’t smart. To quote from the Hecate Essence Thread:

Without Hecate Essence, a file would be locked to their choice they made without reference. That is, unless they looked at the wiki.
Hecate Essence’s addition was NEEDED for magic classes, especially since you can’t even change color variant without one. However, saying “just be glad you even GET to change your magic” completely ignores the extreme tedium of Hecate Essence hunting and it’s extremely luck based nature. Adding a purchasable magic reset for the same price as many indie games is NOT a good solution to Hecate Essence being poorly designed, in fact it only brings up the argument around it once more. I don’t believe that I should be grateful that the only way to change my magic is with a terribly designed feature.

Could I please have an example of people “crying” that they can’t purchase a magic reset? Preferably one AFTER the addition of Hecate Essence.
