Optimization Update Patch Notes (Discussion Thread)

It’s actually kind of amazing how trigger-happy forums are. Vetex could add something like “You now get fined 1000 drachma for hunting too many animals.” And the DUPN would explode from the shock.

Yes the feature is annoying, but the game didn’t light your ass on fire.

the players yearn for the repair kits

yeah the forums can get very heated a lot and that’s quite an understatement. most players have hundreds of thousands of galleons nowadays but still, why even bother adding the feature? No one asked for it and it doesn’t add immersion, it just creates a more bothersome waste of development time that’s vital.

But overall, it easily avoided if you don’t take an guaranteed death from physical animal, sea monster and dragon attack (including their flame attack) and even then, those only apply to Far reach animal

The update which was supposed to be a quick wrap-up of the Full release and add the features that couldn’t be completed for Full release ended up getting dragged on for over 3 months and development time is being wasted on absolutely unnecessary contebt bloat.

That makes it even further irrelevant.

That why i said it an waste of development time which can spent on other important features

Immersionslop

/ɪˈmɜːʃən.slɒp/
noun (informal, humorous)

Definition:
Features, mechanics, or details added to a game in the name of realism, immersion, or lore accuracy, which instead feel unnecessary, tedious, or irritating to the player.

Example sentences:

  • The game makes you manually clean your weapons after every fight—pure immersionslop.
  • I love realism, but there’s a fine line before it turns into immersionslop.
  • The hunger, thirst, and sleep meters all at once? That’s not immersion, that’s immersionslop.

Usage note:
Often used critically by players who feel that certain “realistic” elements detract from fun or pacing rather than enhancing the experience.

Origin:
A blend of immersion and slop, suggesting something messy, excessive, or poorly implemented under the guise of depth.

Related terms:

  • feature bloat
  • pseudo-realism
  • tedium mechanics

Synonyms (informal):

  • immersion overload
  • realism clutter

Antonym:

  • streamlined gameplay

Have I forgot anybody?

Next time in arcane immersion mythical and lord tier dragons can permanently kill your deckhands and every tier of dragon now applies internal injuries to you

Story injuries?

Will have to add Saxton for that one

They’re way too minor, but just that one before Ivar’s second phase alone deserves a mention, true. Wait a sec

Los dmg was originally for everything but it doesnt change drastically i guess

Least invincible Atlantean under your ship back then:

Is it complete now?

Thats going in the folder

Dirt + Tanning: Avoided by covering your whole body, and even then, the armour will get dusty too
LoS to gamage certain enemies: Yeah, we can’t hit them, but why can they hit us, then? And it feels like that aimbot npc just doesn’t die no matter what
Waves Snatching Players: Watch your back or get dragged, idiot. May or may not be an instakill, depending on the situation
Damaged and Ruined Armour: Tanks (mostly regen builds) are getting screwed due to the condition of the change being taking lots of damage to be activated
Percentage-Based Damage: You may stack an ungodly amount of defense, but that (boar, campfire, sea urchin, lightning, choose whatever) will get you anyway. Isn’t the whole point of Defense stat is to defend?
Water Poisoning: The poster child of immersion. This little shet will be on you the entire time, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it but hide somewhere
Fall Damage: This one’s braindead, and barely ever works due to bugs, but if it does, you just die
Breakable Floor: Average enemy tower experience. The breakable ground and boss arenas are also included (Allanon)
Limb Loss: Did you have a spell/technique, whose animations required your right arm? Are you a weapon/relic user? Well, too bad! Vetex planned that regen potions of higher tiers restore your limbs? Well, you still need the right arm to drink those! And this isn’t even implemented iirc
Story Injuries: That barely noticeable thing that nobody invited, shows up time to time due to the unfrequency of storyline updates, but may become very annoying (Jarl Ivar)

We need:

  • Thirst
  • Energy to be reworked from eating to resting / sleeping
  • Sailors disease / Scurvy
  • Temperature to affect us way way way way way more
