Parallelling AO to AR/AA

wakes up on a tiny island island with no memory and one guy

imageimage

uses a rowboat to reach a struggling civilization with a surprisingly dense culture
imageimage

Make a name for yourself by saving another town from a magic user, who is disguising their attack as a natural disaster
imageimage

Go up to some islands in the sky, acquaint yourself with the flight technology, investigate a bit, and defeat a source of some problems up there
imageimage

image

Head to a hangout for boat people with your friend from the first part, and figure out what to do next.
imageimage

Get a bunch of heavy tasks done in a row, and unlock a super cool new power of your choice

And thus concludes the Bronze Sea, as well as the Second Sea.

Now, the rest of the parallels aren’t in order, but still worth mentioning.

Kingdom island with corrupt leadership, a tragic history, a castle in the center, and a very blatantly class-based society
imageimage

Friendly pirate with black hair wearing red who’s going on a journey of his own, and becomes a Legendary Ship boss
imageimage

Central government which can be joined by players, arrests bounty players, and limits themselves to one base per sea

Do I have to say it?

i can’t believe vetex copied from the AA dev like this :rage: :rage: :rage:
who does he think he is?

PK goes off to stop a war

we go start one

I actually had quite an explanation regarding this quite a while before you joined the forums, but since you have done a pretty good job at explaining most of it (the pictures helped) I’ll just add on a few things that you didn’t really talk about.

  • The second island you travel two is surrounded by pillars of rock
  • The third island you travel two has extreme temperatures, and is your first fight against someone who isn’t using one of the base magics
  • Your fight in the sky is against a purple boss who uses healing potions
  • Your fight just before getting a second magic (if that’s what you are going for) is also against someone who is using lost magic.
  • Interestingly, Morden, Calvus, and Warren are all the AO equivalent of Theos
  • The first sky island you go to is nice, and the second sky island you go to is racist
  • The first curse user you meet has something to do with the boss you fight in the sky
Probably a few more but they aren’t as relevant

and its just so peak…

fr though i knew the bronze sea story had some similarities to aa but i didnt know it was THIS similar lol

Honestly kind of surprising how much these games overlap in plotline

You’d assume AO would experiment with new things or diverge a bit but… whatever works I guess

i mean the story is completely different aside from these things, plus the similarities kinda make sense because the pk and ao mc are kinda meant to be two sides of the same coin

hear me out but what if the ancient threat we’re meant to stop is like, ourselves or something

“the real arcane odyssey is you!” ahhh story

the third AO riddle definitely implies this

yeah im in the riddles discord so im on top of all this

we wake up from the simulation as we realize the strongest threat in the universe was actually the risk of the PC crashing/turning off

chaos is just a virtual manifestation of a program that lets people use magic and weird powers in the simulation, same with creation.

we are the ancient threat, because we have the option to unplug the simulation and delete every (possibly) sentient NPC in the game, while freeing our friends who were “experimented” on (people who were plugged into the Odyssey) or we leave the game running and save the lives of the NPCs but our friends remain in the cyberworld

certainly one of the theories of all time

Oh, goodness, you know what I just realized? Ruby Roger is the Trigno equivalent.
You meet them at the,

Then he gets some stuff done, and bing bang boom, he’s a Legendary Ship boss, along with his quirky ally.

Not to mention that they both quickly establish that being a pirate is not the same thing as being a bad person for both the player character and the actual player.

Ah, how could I forget?

The Mantle Pirates are pretty mean though, so Ruby’s doing a better job proving it so far.

Part 2, out now.
