water vs magma is just a fair comparison that came to mind, they’re both liquids and they both deal high damage in a fight, also they clear the other’s status effect respectively.
gold VS poison is comparing a high damaging extremely slow solid magic to a fast, terrible impact damage, gas magic with no similarities in any field besides inflicting a DoT

they both deal decent impact damage, I’m pretty sure they both have decent clash rates, and both of them are liquid.
Their damages are very different, magma has my better clashes, and the only similarity is being liquid(even less of a similarity than dot mechanically)
you compared a gargauntuan solid magic to a small gas magic who’s main damage outputs are drastically different.
water and magma both mainly rely on good impact damage. (magma can sorta rely on puddles and melt, but to a lesser extent)
They both do the same damage in total.
That’s literally the entire point, different primary damage sources
how is that a point to anything??? one doesn’t care for it’s DoT because of it’s gargantuan impact damage, while the other basically can’t do anything without it’s DoT.

In the example, I showed how you can outheal a primary impact damage magic in the same way you can outheal a primarily dot magic
