Sorry but could you please just quickly explain what refurbished consoles are? Since I have legitimately never heard of that in my life.
a console that is “restored” in a way
think of like an old xbox 360 that I cleaned up and fixed, that’s a refurbished console
Basically this; usually there’s a cleaning and part-repairing process involved before a system is considered refurbished. Console producers refurbish systems returned to them, and some third-party refurbishing services exist, though their quality varies.
I will say that the whole stuff with this is a bit of a weird one to me, since I honestly would’ve expected for policies to be implemented to help protect customers, since I do understand the benefits of physical games and digital ones, with physical games you can sell them after you play them, while digital ones are usually cheaper to manufacture due to not requiring a game cartridge and box.
Like I just would’ve expected for people in governments to notice how much money goes into the video game industry and to try to sort out stuff related to it, due to it being a brand new industry. (Also this isn’t anyone’s cue to discuss why such and such political party is bad or whatever, it’s just that I find it weird that governments haven’t tried to do more to accommodate the video game industry)
