Place your bets on how you think spirit weapons are going to function and look

How will they look?
  • they will have detailed models that are opaque and perhaps materialize through energy
  • they will be translucent ghost like items that materialize through energy
  • they won’t be weapons but perhaps could possibly be like a spirit animal or something
  • they are like normal weapons (like any ordinary thing you can find in a chest)

How do you think their gimmick will work?
  • They’ll probably act like normal weapons but require the vitality stat to use for all moves, and that’s it
  • They’ll act like a reversal tool in which as you take more damage your weapons boost in power as well
  • They’ll grant the user some kind of unique aura depending on what the weapon is, like speed, defense, power, size
  • they drain the user’s HP for damage like a sacrifice tool, though this could just be 1 piece of the whole pie
  • Their gimmick will not work like any of these options and is something completely different (explain the idea in comments)

so like

sacrifice weapons?

Knight builds just gaining yet more weapons to mess around with

thats literally the only info we got on them, and none of that is really set in stone

it would be cool if you could customize the health drain like magics and fighting styles. The more health a move takes the more damage it does

Ngl I think its stupid how they work since people who play knights want decent damage and high hp, they dont wanna sacrifice their hp and want to be high at all times which is why they chose vitality, so why would spirit weapons work like that

wardens playing like suicide bombers with maximum health drain to deal 1000 damage every hit:

Given their name includes weapons, I presume they will have a pre-set move set for them. But it would be nice if you could choose how much hp they consume

can you please add an option for stuff like bells n other shit

it’s not going to be sword but hp drain bruh

someones been playing deepwoken

Spirit weapons in general sound like as if they make the Vitality builds even worse, because if they do take hp (maybe they won’t) away from the user every attack it just makes you into a glass cannon build if you are taking away hp for damage. Your suppose to be a tank, I don’t understand why taking away hp to deal damage is better even though you can make a conjurer or a warlord and deal that exact same damage. Why take away hp in the middle of a fight where enemies are taking away your hp, it would just make you drain your hp even faster.

Personally I think the idea of them acting like an aforementioned “reversal” weapon would be better, since as enemies damage you, and you soak damage, your weapon becomes more powerful, allowing you to essentially, decimate in return

So basically you unlock this cool 2nd phase once you’re at like 50% hp.

I was thinking more like

enemy hits you

your weapon gains power boost

you can stall em out assuming regen is boosted with vitality stat

enemy hits you again

weapon is boosted more

this repeats several times until the weapon hits like a cap in power

you stop stalling and strike back

this probably sounds a little unbalanced so maybe the weapon has like a combo timer in which you need to be hit occasionally to retain the power boost or else it fades away

in other words masochism meta

they’ll just be like strength weapons with a lifedrain gimmick

feels like recovery buffs are gonna be essential to spirit weapons, would be cool if the payoff is also good tho like visuals and stuff

yeah vitality as a whole is just kinda wack right now. Spirit weapons the way vetex described them only work on warden builds. Vitality hybrids have no use for spirit weapons unless they deal significantly more damage than magic fighting and weapons, in which case warden would then be completely busted so its just a lose lose scenario.
