Aureus Keos, The Lost Centurion

A skilled shipwright in the ranks of the Bronze Legion, now abandoned after an eventful fate during his post in Fort Castrum that left him there to starve alone!

Aureus Keos is a quartermaster that you are able to obtain after finishing the storyline in the Bronze Sea who is also a skilled shipwright, being trained by the best shipwright in the Bronze Legion, now lost and abandoned in Fort Castrum after an eventful fate.

The player meets somewhere in Fort Castrum, the shipwright seems to be starving after not eating anything for the past 3 months, once you go up close and talk to Aureus and initiate the dialogue.

Aureus talks about how he was abandoned and now lost in this Fort, knowing nothing where his comrade had gone to, he presumes them to be dead, he asks the players if they could cook him a feast.

[ QUEST 1 - FEED THE CENTURION ]

The player was asked by the Centurion to cook him a bunch of meal that would reach around 2000 hunger in total, no specific ingredients but he would have a different dialogue if you cooked him spaghetti.
[ It’s his favorite dish ]

This quest rewards you with 6543 EXP and 0 GALLEON

After finishing the quest, Aureus will introduce himself to the player and ask the player if they could retrieve him a Bronze Hammer and his trusty musket.

[ QUEST 2 - RETRIEVE AUREUS ITEMS ]

The player is tasked to find and retrieve Aureus equipment inside of Fort Castrum, there will be a marker that will show where it is. Once they retrieve Aureus items and talk to him, the screen will fade black and now he will have a bronze hammer on his right hand and a musket on his back.

This quest rewards you with 7543 EXP and 0 GALLEON

After finishing the quest, he asks if the player if they can retrieve him some sealed chests to see if Aureus still can crack em open like he used to.

[ QUEST 3 - RETURN 5 SEALED CHESTS ]

Like the quest said, it’s a simple retrieve and return quest, the sealed chests can be from plundering ships, solving treasure charts, or looting from a underwater structure.

This quest rewards you with 8654 EXP and 251 GALLEONS (Alongside the sealed chests loots)

After finishing all of his quests, he asks the player if they are in need of a shipwright in which he could fill in the role, once the player accepts him, the screen fades to black and the player will receive a notification that he’s now in the Shipyard Ui, ready to be put on the ship.

Once you equip him in the slots, he will be sitting on a pile of sealed chests.

One of the perk of having Aureus is that he will passively heal the ship if it stays idle for more than 30 seconds, he will force the crewmates/deckhand to also fix the ship too.
Other than that, you can talk to him and ask how it was being in the Bronze Legion and maybe he could open up a bit to who was his mentor back in the Bronze Legion and how he was known as one of the best shipwright among his peers.

That’s it from me, goodbye!

Trivia
  • This suggestion came in mind because I was just messing around in studio and thought “WOW, MAYBE I SHOULD MAKE A SHIPWRIGHT SUGGESTION, THAT’D BE FUCKING FUNNY!” and that’s how Aureus was born.
  • Aureus mentor is Sir Marcus, the same shipwright in Rubica
  • He is around 6’3
  • He LIKES spaghetti
  • He is 29, making him 2 years older than Edward.
  • He is single, he got dumped more than 3 times in his life, love ain’t really his thing. :broken_heart:

Very cool! My only concern is that having a shipwright on your ship is quite over powered. You can just fix your ship any time instantly instead of using a hammer, its cheaper too. It also kind of cheats sealed chests as the point of them is having to take them to a town without losing them in some way. Maybe it doesn’t seem much cracked right now but this would be the cheat code of dark sea when it comes out.

I sense new AI bots made with this

Something I can suggest is that when you find him, his model looks very thin. But after the meal quest, he bulks up a bit.

Make it so that you can’t sell sealed chests to him since this would be OP

I don’t see why not.
Also, if he’s a shipwright, wouldn’t he be able to crack chests open while on your ship, too?

Ah, he isn’t able to open sealed chests YET, that’s reserved for his upgrade.

I may not be clear when writing it, was a bit tired but he doesn’t fully fix the ship instantly, he heals them passively if the ship is idle for more than 30 seconds.

Perhaps a solution would be he can only work as a shipwright when your ship is docked (when it has a plank sticking out the side onto land)

Edward still solos ngl

Portable shipwright doesn’t make sense imo, being able to turn in sealeds on your own boat is too easy and repairing your ship on your ship completely defeats to purpose of ship combat and looting.

I love all the effort behind this, but Vetex shouldn’t add a shipwright quartermaster. Sorry.

Huh?

I do agree with sealed chests MUST be turned in at land shipwrights. Repairing ship passively doesn’t sound too bad. But Land shipwrights need to keep their purpose

It would make having bounty a lot easier. And Why? Please elaborate

more than 2.5 quatermasters would b cool

the quality of the videos and the effort put into this is insane, also its very reasonable since we dont have a shipwright as crew right now, i cant describe it with words
10/10, would recommend

10/10 no bitches tho, but i loved that he is a shipright, and it would make it not an absolute hell to sell chests and fix the ship when being a criminal

Maybe instead of passively healing your ship, he could grant a 25% increase in how much your ship is repaired when collecting lost cargo and sinking ships

Seems OP (for something you get in the first sea)
That is all I got to say
Seems like it would outclass most quartermaster up till the end game
