It recently came to my attention[1] that sand seemingly has not a single known lost magic mutation, so here’s my rendition on one. (not exclusive to sand, just a mutation that sand has access to)
Quartz Magic
Base Stats-
1x Power
1x Speed
1x Size
Now you may be wondering, “Keiko.. those stats are ASS! this can’t be a lost magic you idiot, you imbecile, you stupid sunuva-” but chillax I’m getting there. The main gimmick behind Quartz Magic (and why it is complex enough to be a Lost Magic) comes from its Passive Ability. (Name TBD)
Passive Ability-
Basically, you acquire the survival instincts of a toddler and gain the ability to consume Dark Sea Quartz. Depending on the Quartz you ate, your stats and visuals would change.
Quartz Effects (not set in stone, general idea of their relativeness to one another, I am in no way experienced at balancing)
Red - 1.25x Power, 1x Speed, 1x Size (Really Strong)
Orange - 1.15x Power, 1x Speed, 1.1x Size (Fairly Strong and Decently Large)
Yellow - 1.05x Power, 1.4x Speed, 1x Size (Really Fast and Decently Strong)
Green (all 3) - 1.05x Power, 1x Speed, 1.4x Size (Really Large and Decently Strong)
Blue (all 3, includes teal) - 1x Power, 1.25x Speed, 1.2x Size (Fairly Fast and Large)
Purple (All 3, includes pink, don’t argue with it) - 1.15x Power, 1.05x Speed, 1.15x Size (Fairly Strong, Decently Fast, Fairly Large)
Black - 1.2x Power, 1.05x Speed, 1.1x Size (Fairly strong and Decently Fast and Large)
Gray - 1.15x Power, 1.15x Speed, 1.15x Size (Balanced)
White - 1.2x Power, 1.15x Speed, 1x Size (Fairly strong and Fast)
Additional Info-
You can combine Quartz colors for more unique colors just like on weapons, and the stats would work one of two ways
- It does an average of every stat change of each color that shows up in the combo[2]
- It takes the most occurring color and copies its stats while keeping the color the combo made, if equal amounts of unique colors were used then it just does the first one[3]
Maybe some mechanic to change the color without changing the stats so people have more freedom when experimenting. (Holding out the desired color quartz and flaunting your aura for 5 seconds will change the color but keep the stats, while you flaunt you can slowly see your aura shift to the color chosen)
Using the first 6 colors (Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Purple) for a quartz will make a unique Prism Quartz which would cycle through the colors of the rainbow. Purely Cosmetic.
Status Effect-
Quartz’ status effect would not be applied on hits, but rather to the user’s self when they are in range of their move or use a self-boosting move (like aura) as well as through flaunting. It would be called Refracted and would redirect the next attack the user takes with a cooldown of 45 seconds.
Visuals-
Quartz Magic would be similar to how crystal magic used to look in WoM, that being translucent (see-through) and reflective. The color would depend on the quartz you ate, and the base shapes would be similar to crystal magic as well (pointy)
Flaunting would slowly grow crystals on the user’s skin which fall off once you stop flaunting.
Obtainment-
The actual method would be no different from other lost magics however this would be an obtainable mutation by Sand, Crystal, and Glass magic.
(I actually knew about it a bit ago but never really thought about it) ↩︎
Let’s say you did 3 White, 2 Yellow, and an Orange
In total thats
3x 1.2x Power, 1.15x Speed, 1x Size
2x 1.05x Power, 1.4x Speed, 1x Size
1x 1.15x Power, 1x Speed, 1.1x SizeAverages-
1.2, 1.2, 1.2, 1.05, 1.05, 1.15 = ~1.14x Power
1.15, 1.15, 1.15, 1.4, 1.4, 1 = ~1.21x Speed
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1.1 = ~1.02x SizeIf we want to to be prettier we could have it round to the nearest 0.05 so it’d finalize out to
1.15x Power
1.2x Speed
1x Size ↩︎So in the previous example, white would be the most occurring color so that color combo just gets white’s stats of 1.2x damage, 1.15x speed, 1x size
If it were like, 2x white 2x yellow 2x orange then it’d pick white since it was the first one in the recipe ↩︎
