Question about (AU) Gods

Something i’ve always wondered about the lore, how did the gods exactly come to exist. We know that Chaos and Creation are the primary forces in the AU lore, so did creation manifest them or something? Why do they have innate magical powers while humans had to be gifted it by one, and do you think if gods exist on earth, would they exist on other plants

the arcane lore is the exact same as greek mythology, it’s just that prometheus gave us magic instead of fire, chances are this magic is just a generalized form of god powers

I mean i understand all of that but like you can make the arguement in most religions that the gods just manifested themselves out of nowhere. But in AUs case we have Chaos and Creation so like did it make them like that
Infact are gods even “living” beings, i mean we know they can die and aren’t immortal but what exactly are they

Or well ig we know that gods come from the titans but in that case, where did the titans come from :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

in greek mythology the gods Gaia and Ouranos were created through rng ig from chaos, and they made the titans, after they had previously made the hundred handed guys who Ouranos didnt like and threw away. gaia was pissed off and told her eldest son to cut off Ouranos’ male parts, which became Aphrodite when the sea foam it somehow caused went away. the gods were kids of the titans

Ah okay, taking this as my answer for now :fr: (needed answer to write something)

i think there’s chaos and creation even though chaos IS creation in real mythology or something like that

The gods (mainly the Olympians or the major gods) first started with Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia who were all the kids of Kronos, this big titan dude (the titans being the generation of beings born from Gaia, the personification of earth and a primordial being, also being one of the first beings in existence after Chaos). Kronos thought his kids would overthrow him and so swallowed most of them (they were immortal though, so they survived fine) except for Zeus who was replaced with a rock when Kronos came knocking, with the actual Zeus being flown to some random island to grow up and later defeat Kronos. Fast forward YEARS later and Zeus is the king of Olympus, joined by his fellow Olympians Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, and Demeter. There was 12 total Olympians (actually 14, but Hades wasn’t really considered one as his realm was far from Olympus in the underworld) in mythology, 5 of which being Zeus’s kids, those 5 Olympians specifically being Hermes (God of Travel), Ares (God of War), Athena (also god of war, but moreso in relation to things like strategies and weapons and such, while Ares represented the primal combat and bloodshed of war), Dionysus (god of wine), and Hephaestus (god of fire, metal, and blacksmiths). The last Olympian was Aphrodite who came to be from non-kid friendly reasons I will not discuss. In Greek mythology, Chaos was the absolute first being and thing in existence, Creation didn’t exist in Greek myth. To summarize, it was from Chaos that the first primordial beings (Ouranos of the sky, Gaia of the earth, Nyx of the night, and so on) came to be, resulting in the birth of the titans and later the gods from the titans. Many minor gods also appeared after the main Olympians, though they weren’t considered as Olympians. AU lore is mostly identical to Greek mythology, so this is probably also the history of the gods in the AU.

In Greek lore/myth, Prometheus (a titan) made the first people from clay, and so they weren’t really created as anything special. I dunno’ about the gods, but since they are descended from Chaos I’d guess it’s something like that (and also because they’re divine). Specifically in the case of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, they divided the world evenly following the war between the gods and the titans, where Zeus obtained the sky, Poseidon with the sea and earth, and Hades with the underworld (and also the earth, I guess). They didn’t actually have those powers from birth. Guess their sisters did, though.

(And every other Olympian and minor god that followed).

idk maybe

To be fair, they are immortal, meaning they’re undying. So, they do likely count as living beings. AU lore is also kind of weird, because gods in mythology actually couldn’t die and could only actually be chopped up into pieces and spread out.

He was called Poseidon the earth shaker for a reason

Yes, when he hit his trident upon the grounds he caused earthquakes

Yes that doesn’t mean hé got the Earth

You have to have some power over the earth in order to be able to shake it do you not?

heavy trident:
