I uh… don’t shade.

Closest thing I do is use this brush for gradients:

How I would advise you to use said brush is as follows:

• Enable Alpha Lock for the layer you want to apply the gradient to.
• Crank the brush size up until it would cover most of what you’re trying to apply it to. Also change the opacity to ~90%.
• Tap and make small motions on the edge of what you’re applying it to with the brush.

As a bit of an example what this brush can do:

I made this quickly using only a solid color brush, the watercolor (real) brush, and this one:

(For watercolor edge, you need to crank its size wayyy up and to just tap with it to create the background effect I did here.)
