a friend and I recently began farming bosses together, though we’re confused as to how boss drops work when there is more than one player fighting a boss.
From what I know, there’s a 1/10 chance to get a boss drop, and you have to actually damage the boss before it dies in order to even have a chance at getting a drop. however, my knowledge ends there.
my main concern is whether or not battling bosses with more players is less efficient than battling bosses solo. If there are multiple people fighting the boss, does each player still have the 1/10 chance of an item, or are the rates lowered depending on the number of people fighting the boss? and if each player retains the 1/10 drop rate, does this mean that the boss could theoretically drop more than one item across all players, or is it only limited to one item regardless of the number of players?
heck, the answers i’m looking for might not even be known to the player base. i’d still greatly appreciate any info regarding this, though.
It’s a 1/10 drop rate for any item when you kill the boss. When it comes to an occasion when 2 or more people are fighting a boss, it’s based upon damage dealt. The remainder of the damage percentile that you didn’t do adds on to the less likely chance of you getting an item. This would mean that if you only did 60% of the damage, you would have a 40% less likely chance of getting an item added on to the already 1/10 chance.
solo is the best if you want to get drops yourself. Tho if you and your friends share the drops (for whatever reason idk) then you still have the same drop chance as solo.
yup they are. Lemme give an example: if you deal 50% of the dmg to a 6k hp minotaur and you other friend also deals 50% of the dmg then you will both have a 1/20 chance to get a drop. If you were to share the drops tho then its 1/20 x 2 = 1/10 (same drop chance as solo, but idk why you would share the drops)
multiple people can get a drop, there is no set limit on the amount of drops a boss can drop. The
for you alone yup. In total? nope (cuz 10 people each dealing 10% of the dmg and all having a 1/100 chance gives 1/100 x 10 = 1/10)
hopefully this answers most of your questions, if you do have more then please do ask
