Typhon
Main article: Typhon

Zeus aiming his thunderbolt at a winged and snake-footed Typhon. Chalcidian black-figured hydria (c. 540–530 BC), Staatliche Antikensammlungen (Inv. 596).[6]
Typhon was a fearsome monster of Greek mythology, the last son of Gaia. He is usually envisioned as humanoid from the waist up, serpentine below, almost the size of a mountain. With his mate Echidna, he would father many monsters. Later, he would attempt to overthrow Zeus for the title of ruler of the cosmos. Zeus would hurl an enormous rock on him to beat him. Typhon is a reptilian dragon with legs and wings, and he breathes fire from his mouth and eyes.
So using this information and knowing that Tython is leader of Dragons in the book of Athena could that imply in the AO verse Typhon is a god of dragons / dragon god and would be the only dragon capable of manipulating spirit energy
Also to add on to this Typhon does have offspring
- Cerberus: The multi-headed dog (often three) that guards the gates of Hades.
- Lernaean Hydra: A multi-headed water serpent with poisonous blood and breath, which regrew two heads for every one severed.
- Chimera: A fire-breathing hybrid monster, typically described as having the body of a lion, a goat’s head on its back, and a snake for a tail.
- Sphinx: A creature with a lion’s body, a woman’s head, and wings, known for posing riddles in Thebes.
- Orthrus: A two-headed hound that guarded the Cattle of Geryon.
- Ladon: The dragon (or serpent) with a hundred heads that guarded the golden apples in the Garden of the Hesperides.
- Caucasian Eagle: The eagle that ate the liver of Prometheus daily.
- Nemean Lion: A giant lion with impenetrable skin, later killed by Heracles.
So if Typhon is a dragon are all his descendants considered dragons in the AO verse and are they considered legacies
like the hydra could at least pass as a dragon but everyone else probably not
Seriously doubt he’s a deity. More likely just an extremely ancient dragon.
I just had a thought what if Typhon is just a god but Echidna is a dragon and when a god and a dragon procreate it creates monsters
Just another fraud doomed to be SWOONed by my slash magic
You are forgetting the best part of Typhon’s Greek myth, in certain versions of the story, Typhon defeats Zeus, cripples him, and leaves him in a cave. However Zeus is later rescued and Typhon gets his butt kicked.
In different versions of the story, the Olympians even retreat to Egypt to hide from Typhon.
I think that it was a mountain, not a rock.
I believe that it was mount Etna.
I like the Nemean lion, because it was unable to be killed by weapons, so Heracles just strangled it.
Also, I like that you use the Greek “Heracles” and not the Roman “Hercules”.
My favorite depiction of Typhon might actually be from Hades 2. Makes him look like a proper monster and genetic freak. Gives me tyranid from Warhammer 40k vibes.
typhon is a child of gaia, so he is divine by nature and therefore probably can manipulate spirit energy
whether other dragons can depends on whether anyone has found a dragon using phoenix magic
