Random Boss Ideas I had

Since im bored I made boss ideas out of boredom.

Each boss has an ultimate like move that they only use at half health or lower.

Hydra

Summary

This boss is of a boy that has fire and acid magic (green variant), along with an external curse called the cloning curse he had found. This boss would be in a dungeon with guards, hiding from those who may want to kill him for his curse.

Inspiration

This boss is inspired off of the hydra from greek mythology, a monster that had multiple heads. Each time you chopped a head off a hydra, two would grow in its place. I tried replicating this into a way that it may fit into the AA story, and came up with a cloning curse.

Lore

The Hydra is a very smart wizard in the war sea that had fire as his first mind and acid as his second mind. One day, he had found a bizarre glowing white cube on an island and touched it, gaining the cloning curse, an external curse that allows the user to clone themselves. Villains and heroes heard of this after a while in the war sea and started hunting him. the villains were greedy for power and wanted the curse, while the heroes assumed that the hydra was evil and wanted to make sure that he would be stopped. In fear, the hydra created a dungeon with hired guards to hide from these villains and heroes. Locals of people near the island the dungeon is at say that the wizard titled himself “Hydra” from listening to what others had called him from a sea battle he had with one of the heroes hunting him. In the dungeon is a library filled with many books, new and old, that the Hydra studies in a lot. The library is also filled with scrolls, some of which would look like those of lost spell scrolls. If it were to exist in the game (quite unlikely), it would likely be a quest you have to find a specific hero NPC for.

How It Would Work

The boss would always be using fire hover and mainly rely on blasts, placed explosions, and beams to attack. The boss would also be able to clone itself during the battle, cutting its hp to whatever amount of npcs are present (original and clone) . For example, if he cloned himself for one clone, his health would become 1/2 of the full health. If a clone or the boss is damaged, it will go across all present clones and the original boss. The clones are able to also use blasts, placed explosions, and beams identical to the boss. However, they only attack a second after the boss attacks with the same type of attack (can use either fire or acid for the attack too).

Attack Ideas (May add some lost spells depending on what spells come out)

Clone Summon
Summons up to 2 clones of the boss, each of which summon the attacks the original boss uses a second or less after it uses it. Each clone disappears after half a minute.

Burning Frenzy (fire)/Corroding Frenzy (acid)
Fires 4 blasts of fire or acid magic at a selected person.

Ignition Pillar (fire)/Caustic Pillar (acid)
Summons a placed pillar spell of either fire or acid. Does two hits on the explosion.

Element Trap
Summons a field of fire and acid placed explosions, fire going first and acid going second. Possible to dodge by dodging the fire pillars then the acid pillars.

Draconic Burst
The Boss summons 3 clones (4 npcs including boss) and hovers around a selected player. The boss and the npcs summon 2 blasts of fire or acid magic. clones disappear after attack is done.

Fiery Echo (fire)/Acrid Echo (acid)
Summons 3 beams of fire or acid, aimed at a selected player.

Blazing Shield (fire)/Alkaline Shield (acid)
Summons a shield of either fire magic or acid magic, blocking any incoming attacks.

Torch Snare (fire)/Acidic Snare (acid)
Creates a power mode that has an effect on the boss’s hands. (power mode boosts damage by 15%). Same will go for clones.

Blazing Coil (fire & right side)/Chemical Coil (acid & left side)
The boss does a high jump spell to the left or right, left being acid and right being fire. Due to it being used with hover, it turns it into an air dodge.

Hydra Vortex (only usable at half hp or lower)
The boss creates 6 clones (7 npcs counting the original) and surrounds a player, then proceeds to summon many blasts and beams at the player for half a minute. The boss then hovers away and the clones dissapear.

Pandora’s Box

Summary

This boss would be of a malevolent, angry spirit inside of a box that summons other npcs to attack for it, those NPCS being some of the evil spirits inside of the box (Greed, Hate, etc.). The spirits would have a type of magic and have 3 or more spells that they would use.

Inspiration

The boss is inspired of the greek mythology story of Pandora’s Box, except with the story twisted around to be more of an AA trilogy boss.

Lore

The lore for this boss starts off before the history was recorded, where the evil spirits roamed free and caused many to succumb to the evils they spread. Eventually the gods come around and imprison the spirits. Then comes along Prometheus giving people magics and people burning aurem, which Zeus notices after a week of it happening. After noticing, Zeus and Hephaestus start planning a way to bring down Prometheus in a vault created by Hephaestus far from Mount Olympus, and started creating the box, putting the spirits in the box before it was finished. Eventually, Zeus was killed by Prometheus and Hephaestus abandoned the box in the vault. However, the box had a small crack, which was enough for the spirits to seep their evils out, mainly greed doing most of it. This eventually leads to the powerful wizards becoming greedy, which leads to the downfall of Olympus.

Fast forward to the time of magic circles and mutations, a person named Hope went exploring and found the vault intact. Hope was an explorer with life magic. She found a way to open the vault and went over to the box and touched it. The spirit of Envy then reached out to Hope from the box, and seeped her soul out of her. Due to her being in the box they then adapted to the new found magic circles and had elemental magics found in the war seas. The spirit of hope then Secludes itself away from the other spirits to keep herself safe from their evils. (before you ask how she even did that, the inside of the box is a black void area bigger than the original box, able to store souls in it. If literal gods and magic can exist here, so can a soul trapping box).

3 centuries after this happens, a good enough time period to have the world be split a whole lot, a magicless person named Pandora finds the box and the same thing happens. However, due to Pandora not being able to find a way to get away from the evil spirits, was trapped and succumbed to their evils, changing how she were for the many centuries she stayed in the box as a spirit.

Fast forward to the time of Arcane Odyssey, people found the island of which the vault was on and decided to make a small town there. Someone then had the idea to open the vault and found the box in there. This then causes Pandora to awake, filled with all the evils from the other spirits (other than hope), and be a tiny bit out of the box, enough that she was able to hold it and float around (like a poltergeist ghost picking up inanimate objects and making them float). The person who then saw this had then run away and warned other people about it. Around this time the player would find this island and find the scared person who saw Pandora. The person would then tell you, knowing that you were a wizard, that you could possibly find a way to get rid of the spirit (Pandora).

TL;DR Person touched box and became evil spirit. Don’t ask just read lol.

How the Boss Would Work

The boss (pandora holding the box) wouldn’t actually use attacks. Instead, It would float around summon one of 7 different NPCS (being the evil spirits) each with a base magic. The NPCs would be called:

Greed (Metal Magic [gold variant] )
Hate (Shadow Magic)
Disease (Poison Magic [purple variant] )
Vice (Acid Magic [green variant] )
Pain (Explosion Magic)
Envy (Glass Magic) (lore wise can seep the soul from people, wanting them to be what it is)
Strife (Wind Magic [gray variant] )

Each spirit would have 3 spells (maybe add more later) that are usually different from each other. They stay for around half a minute (might change it to a minute.) The spirits cannot be damaged, however the box can be.

Ideas For Each Spirit's Attacks

Due to there being more than one npc that are different from each other, Their attacks will be listed seperately (cry about it if you don’t wanna read that much)

The NPC creates a power mode, boosting the damage of attacks by 15%. Forms explosions as an Aura around the spirit.

Creates a speed mode that boosts the speed of attacks. Forms glass around the hands of the spirit.

Summons a placed explosion pillar under a targeted person. Goes for 4 explosions.

Summons 3 small blasts at a targeted player

Aero Elixir
Summons a bursting mode spell that deals bursts of damage to anyone near them. The spirit then goes over and follows a person until the mode goes away. forms wind around the arms of the spirit.

Whirlwind Command
The spirit goes over to a player and does self pillar explosion. Goes for 2 explosions.

Malevolent summoning (only usable past half hp)
Summons all 7 npcs to circle around a targeted player to use blast or beam attacks.

Alyson

Summary

This boss would be of a bratty, spoiled 11 year old girl with mastered shadow magic that is similar yet different from the kraken. She would also be the daughter of a king, probably why she is such a spoiled kid.

There is no real inspiration for this boss so I skipped that.

Lore

Alyson is a 11 year old girl who is the daughter of a king. When she was 8 and just got her magic, her father trained her every day since then and also spoiled her with many things. Alyson then went on to master her shadow magic, along with being able to use arcanium weapons very well.

When the player comes along to the castle, they are met by Alyson. Alyson thought that the player looked weak and started bragging about “how strong she was” and that the player would just lose to her. The player then challenges her to a fight and Alyson, being rude and thinking she would win easily, accepted the player’s challenge.

How The Boss Would Work

The boss would have a smart and annoying AI and would dodge a lot, but have very low health to compensate. She would use shadow magic that acts as strings, grabbing the player from long distances and throwing them around using the magic while having shadow pulse through the strings. Even when the attacks are done the strings stay a while and do damage for 5 more seconds. She would also use two magic weapons: Dual Arcanium Daggers and an Arcanium staff.

Dusk Bang
The boss summons a large blast of shadow magic at a targeted player.

Gloom Ambush
The boss summons a placed shockwave explosion under a targeted player. Goes for 2 explosions.

Umbra Pull + Umbral Kick
The boss grabs a targeted player with shadow magic in the form of strings, damaging them and pulling them to the boss. The boss then kicks the targeted player in the chest, with their leg pulsing with shadow magic.

Silhouette Charge
The boss does a speed mode spell and makes their attacks faster.

Dark Throw
The boss grabs a targeted user with shadow magic in the form of strings, and throws them onto the ground.

Silhouette Barrage
The boss fires a burst of shadow magic blasts, each of which covered in the shadowy strings**

Shadow Dagger Throw + Shadow Dagger Spin
The boss throws the dual daggers at a targeted player, the daggers having strings attached to the hilts. If a dagger hits, the boss then spins in a circle and lets go of the string that were attached to the daggers, causing the targeted person to be launched. If the daggers do not hit, the boss does a large AoE move spinning in a circle, causing damage if a person is hit.

Umbral Staff Burst
The boss does an AoE move using the shadow staff.

Umbral Staff Barrage
The boss uses the shadow staff and spins it in a circle, summoning small blasts of shadow covered in strings during the attack.

Eclipse Summoning
The boss summons 3 beams of shadow magic covered in strings at a targeted player.

Darkness Covet
The boss covers the entire ground in shadow magic strings, damaging any player caught in them for 10 seconds.

I DONT WANT TO PLAY WITH YOU ANYMORE (only usable at half hp and lower) (yes I named it this, fight me.)
The boss grabs a player using the shadow magic strings and elevates them in the air a tiny bit, and then yells the spell name, causing shadow damage and ripping off a limb.

Siren

Summary

This boss would be a sea monster boss that spawns the same way the kraken did. It would use water and sound magic, but mainly use sound magic. When it uses sound magic, it makes female vocals.

Inspiration

This boss is inspired by sirens from greek mythology, which were monsters that lured sailors to their deaths with their soothing and sweet voices.

Lore

The Siren is a pretty girl who started out with water magic, but obtained a sound magic scroll and used it. The Siren, shamed by those in their village over something incredibly despicable, was beached on a rock in the middle of the ocean. The Siren now attacks any boats that comes near it, using her water and sound magic to drown them. The rock the Siren sits on is surrounded by the rubble of the ships.

=How the boss would work

The boss would mainly attack the boats first, but then attack you once you step onto the rubble areas. The boss would use sound magic for AoE and blasts and use water for blasts and beams.

Tidal Blossom
The boss fires 1 large blast at a targeted player.

Sea Shield
creates a barrier around the boss similar to the shield the kraken used, protecting it from all incoming damage for 30 seconds. Can be broken using a very powerful ultimate spell (above 2.3x)

Tsunami Summon
Summons a tsunami at a targeted player.

Ocean Ambush
Summons a ring of water magic pillar explosions in the area of rubble, going off in a chain. Goes for 1 explosion each pillar.

Ultimate Spell: Flood Reapers (Only usable at 3/4 hp or under)
Summons an ultimate spell of 4 small beams of water magic at a targeted player.

Lyric Stomp
Summons a placed shockwave of sound magic under a targeted player. Goes for 3 explosions.

Blare Bash
Summons a large blast of sound magic at a targeted player.

Resonate
The boss does a speed mode spell to boost the speed of their attacks. The energy forms around the arms of the boss.

Sound Control
Summons a giant self explosion that damages anyone on the rubble.

Sound Magic: Screech
The boss screeches and summons a circle under a ship, sinking it when the attack is done.

Ultimate spell: Reverberate (Only usable past half hp)
Summons a large circle of sound magic above their head, then releasing a giant shockwave of sound magic.

Dante

Summary

This boss is of a tyrant king who holds the Inferno curse. People say that he went through the underworld to obtain the inferno curse.

Inspiration

This boss is inspired by the story “Dante’s Inferno” which explains of a person named Dante heading through the levels of hell and out the opposite end of it. The boss had the story twisted around to fit in with the arcane universe better. (Don’t try it, Yoruh. I’m watching you…)

Lore

Dante was originally a poor, magicless man who sought power. He had heard of a “Hoax” that there was a very powerful curse within the underworld, and that there were a tunnel that goes down into there. Dante, desperate to be stronger, searched around for the hole that would lead there, to which he found it and went down, no preparations other than weapons. Going down he found skeletons of people and souls of the dead. After a while he had reached a level and found the inferno curse there, guarded by a strong looking demon. Dante threw a bag of pocket sand at the demon to blind it, and then absorbed the curse. Shortly after, the demon got the sand out of its eyes and saw Dante absorbed the curse, and proceeded to attack him. Dante, however, used the powers of the inferno curse and killed the demon, then fled back to the surface.

When he had gotten back, he had established a kingdom on an island, that became a dictatorship within a decade. Fast forward 3 decades to the present day, the player arrives on the island and finds a group of people. The group notices the player’s power and asks a favor, the favor being to kill Dante. People weren’t happy with his dictatorship and were unable to leave the island and were taxed for nearly everything. The player accepts the offer, and goes up to the top of the castle to face dante.

How The Boss Will Work

The boss would dodge when a person uses a blast or beam, making it hard to use ranged moves, but not impossible. The boss would also use a magic sword with the power of the inferno curse. The boss would also have a small regen move it would use at 1/4 hp. Like all the other boss ideas, he would have an ultimate-like move that it would use past half hp. It would have a full hp of 20,000.

Inferno Comet
The boss fires a blast of inferno at a targeted player.

Inferno Field
The boss goes close to a player and does a self explosion move. Goes for 2 explosions.

Ignition snares
Places a bunch of blue fires that explode and deal damage whenever a player steps on one. Can also be activated via blasts and beams.

Hellfire launch
Grabs a player and launches them onto a wall, damaging them with inferno flames.

Igniting Stomp
The boss stomps on the ground and summons a bunch of inferno pillars around it, damaging anyone who are hit by them.

Weapon cast: Inferno bites
Summons three slashes embedded with inferno fire at a targeted player.

Weapon cast: Inferno Crasher
Summons two giant blasts of inferno magic that explode on contact with walls and players. Anyone near them are damaged too and left with inferno burns.

Blazing Kicks
The boss grabs a player and kicks them three times, their legs pulsing with inferno. The player grabbed is then launched back and has inferno burns on them.

Inferno Recharge
The boss regains health slowly for 30 seconds. Can be stopped if hit by water magic or a cold magic. Only usable when the boss is at 1/4 health or lower.

Inferno Storm (Only usable at 1/2 or lower).
The boss creates a barrage of inferno flames, dealing massive amounts of damage to anyone by one flame. Anyone hit is inflicted with the inferno burn status.

Black Cross Guild

Summary

This guild was created by a supercurse user named Juniper, and has different categories for Ranks. (Would basically be a rival guild to the Grand Navy, and would be impossible to actually join.)

Black Cross Leader
The Title of Juniper, who can command all ranks of the guild.

Elite Division Commander
A category for the four co-leaders who command a portion of the guild members. The known Elite Commanders are: Lecter (elemental supercurse user), Aldelto (shadow and death magic user + holder of the invisibility curse), Hisako (Earth, Crystal, and Aether magic user), Oskar (acid and flare magic user + holder of fog curse).

Division Commander
People who command a portion of the guild members who respond to the elite division commanders and the leader. The known Division Commanders are: Reginald (Crystal and Metal magic user), Kelvin (Water, Ice, and Frostmetal user + holder of the mimic curse & younger brother of Juniper), Bleoberis (Earth and Magma magic user), Alvarina (Crystal and light magic sharpshooter), Nazar (Explosion + Wind magic user). there are other division commanders, however the rest are unknown.

Division admin
The helpers to division commanders. Usually three in each division. Currently each are unknown or irrelevant.

Division members
The members of the division. None are currently relevant, but still exist.


Things I’m working on

List

Alatar (Split-equinox curse user)
This boss would be a son of Persephone, and would use the split-equinox curse, a curse that can use the abilities of the light, shadow, and equinox curses altogether. (PS: cry about it level)

Lecter Phase 1 + Lecter Phase Two (“Lecter” but a lot different)
An elemental supercurse part of the Black Cross guild. Phase one is being worked on first. The second phase for Lecter, well, “Lecter” during the battle will be fighting alongside Juniper and will be worked on after phase one is completed.

Surt (Rupture Magic User)
A person who had gone insane after combining two magics together and making a new human -made magic. The magic was called Rupture Magic, and was a mix of Gravity and Shadow magic, creating a magic similar to that of a black hole.

Cerberus (Shadow and Darkness user)
A son of Hades who had gone to the broken world to kill off people his father finds problematic (People who Hades thought could overthrow him). The player would find him killing off a person in a boat. Cerberus then notices the player as a witness, and starts attacking him.

Juniper (Supercurse user with very strong curses, leads a villain guild called Black Cross) (No, this isn’t the Juniper from the webcomic.)
This boss would be a post game boss you would have to fight. The boss is a supercurse user that has the Aethereal Flame Curse, the Gravity Curse, The Genesis Zero Curse, and the Shatter Curse. She had traveled a long way to get collect each of them carefully and use them later to make a supercurse.

Kenten (Warlord Red Energy Style User)
This would be of a 14 year old who uses the Red Energy fighting style from the idea I made for a fighting style, using the warlord variant. Would get more aggressive past half health.

Well what I was thinking is that the father (a king) trained her every day since she got her magic, to a point where she had a form of mastery that allowed her to change her spells a whole lot, along with being able to use magic weapons very well (may change to 11 years old). She would have a bratty and spoiled behavior and would challenge the player, thinking she’s so strong she will just win against you with ease

And by a whole lot I’m not exaggerating. I’m talking kraken level different. It would be shadow magic based off string-like spells. The boss would have an ult-like attack where it latches the shadow-like strings across your entire body and rips one of your limbs off (either one of your hands) while also dealing damage via the shadow attacks

It would be an incredibly annoying boss to deal with an would dodge a LOT

Basically

-small hitbox (due to them being smaler than the player)
-dodges a lot
-can do mild amounts of damage

-low health

No joke Pandora’s box would be interesting, but it would probably have to be a whole other quest line where you have to search for each individual spirit, otherwise the boss would probably be super overwhelming

The thing about Pandora’s box is that you aren’t supposed to focus on the spirits, the box is the real problem. Pandora is using the box and forcing hope to put a barrier around it to protect it, which you deal with first. Then your goal is to weaken the box enough that it forces the spirits of hope and Pandora out of the box, then to seal the box with the spirits in the vault for the rest of time.

The spirits go along a cycle and are summoned, and then disappear after a minute
