Rank the curse users

Rank all the curse users you know of from least to most favorite. Then if you’re feeling extra nice from weakest to strongest cause I actually want to know people’s take on that.

Edit: I mean give me a list of least favorite to most favorite, please don’t just say one guy

Avery walker is by far the strongest known curse user so far if we are talking about the war seas

What about Wotan and his sons? Vetex confirmed out-of-game that they’re curse users as well.

Even then, there’s still like what, 4 more seas after nimbus? I doubt Avery is the #1 strongest curse user, defiantly up there in terms of strength but most likely not #1

My nostalgia bias is heavy.

  1. Durza - Iconic, I feel like he needs no explanation.
  2. Freedrock - As much of a cheater as he is, he’s easily one of the most intriguing characters in the lore. He has a weapon we’ve never seen and some crazy lore that isn’t fully out in the public yet. I hope he makes an appearance in AO.
  3. Arsen - He’s just a cool guy. I was terrified of him in AA, lol. Also, out of every character in the verse, Arsen is probably the closest in power to Theos (as in not much stronger but not much weaker either). I think that’s cool. Obviously, Durza was a more even match for Theos, but that was when Durza was weaker than he is today, and when Theos was more powerful than he is today. Arsen is the closest match to Theos in Y1854.
  4. Arthur - I really like his curses and lore. Well, most of his curses. Energy is super confusing and vague, and no option really seems to make sense. If it gives infinite magic energy then that makes it useless to Arthur who doesn’t use his magic anymore, and if it gives infinite stamina then that makes it INFINITELY POWERFUL because curses use stamina to cast. It’s also really weird that the Water Curse is named the Tide Curse for seemingly no reason at all.
  5. Trigno - Iconic, what else do I say? I like him slightly more than Averill, probably because his crew has a few distinct characters whereas Averill’s is nameless nobodies.
  6. Morden - Iconic, important, seems interesting, and also gave us the first canonical look at what Death Magic would have looked like in Arcane Adventures.
  7. Averill - Iconic, I thought he was a really cool character as a kid. It’s a shame AA didn’t make it to the Fourth Sea where he would have been more important.
  8. Randal - Theos’ close friend who wrote the AA lorebooks, pretty cool character. Also, Randal singlehandedly locked down Durza from moving ANYWHERE. That is one sick feat for a character who we never even got to meet until Arcane Odyssey. This guy really used all of nature to spy on Durza so that he would never be able to go to any place where life flourishes without Theos knowing about it. Amazing.
  9. Morock - Interesting lore. Idk if his daughter is canon. Morock’s story gives us some fascinating insight into what it’s like to have a grand fire curse and what it does to the mind. But he’s kind of a loser for seriously not considering that a wooden ship could collapse if a Promethean Fire Curse user and Shockwave Curse user fight on it at the same time. And his sword is too op please nerf.
  10. Rupin - He would be higher if I included the webcomic story, but in-game he was never developed enough. His purpose was to be Trigno’s rival, and I guess he had a neat backstory in Online Fighting times.
  11. Valencia - My memory is foggy but I’d assume there was a lot of community hype surrounding Valencia back in the AA days, since we didn’t know what she looked like or how powerful she was. She survived fighting Morock, so her Shockwave Curse was definitely a force to be reckoned with. I thought the Arcane Government was interesting, Argestes and Valencia are very memorable names despite not making any physical appearance outside of the webcomic. I hope the Grand Navy matches the hype.
  12. Julian - It’s hard to say if I like Julian or not, he’s alright to me and I think about him more than I do the next characters on this list, so there’s that. Since it’s now confirmed that he lived, I wonder what he’ll be doing, if anything. I remember firmly believing that he had the Snow Curse when he was shown in the trailer, lol. Someday maybe I’ll write a full version of his fight with Morden.
  13. Ramses - Grah this boss was tough for me in AA. How does he heal with the Sand Curse??? Oh well, he’s super memorable.
  14. Avery - Sounds like a menacing character, also I love Slash Magic conceptually so it’s cool to know a little about its curse variant.
  15. Ernest - For a super long time I gaslit myself into thinking he had Acid Magic, not the Acid Curse, until I checked the trello again and realized I remembered wrongly. He’s one of the few canonical One Shot Pirate Divisional Commanders we know about, and he was the abusive dad of Romulus (Trigno’s vice-captain) which is just about the only thing that makes him memorable in my mind.
  16. Nero - I don’t have a lot of thoughts about this guy, he sure did commit genocide.
  17. Landon - Your peg leg was very annoying to find!!! And we don’t even know what curse you canonically had!!!
  18. Beringer - R.I.P. You were based. I wonder who’s getting the Cloud Curse next, but I’ve always had a strong suspicion it’s Revon.
  19. Zaix - I can never remember his name :sob: also he lost to a magic user what a skill issue!!!
  20. Kessler - Imagine ruling the ice water snow kingdom and your curse is DARKNESS of all things. What a loser, laugh at this user!!! You lost to a guy who had a much stronger curse than you, what a loser!!! Also he really thought spears were viable, Winterveil was doomed from the start :skull: :sob:

I personally believe Warren is the Inferno Curse user, but I’m not going to bother ranking him because it’s “technically” unconfirmed, and I have no idea where I would put him.

I’m not going to rank the power of every curse, there are more curses than there are magic types so I’d be here all night. All I’ll say is Mud >>> Promethean Fire > Inferno = Darkflame > Scorch > Aethereal Flame > Equinox

potential man:

shouldnt Arthur be above him?

also just a note iirc Vetex said Freedrock’s power got retcon a bit so maybe he isnt as strong as he was anymore

i think it gives stamina since it was mentioned that Arthur managed to keep fighting off Duzra’s undead army thank to the energy curse which make him never tired

aint they separate thing? tide curse control sea ( and maybe other sources of water ) but cant turn the user into water, its an external curse

water curse most likely would not be able to control the sea or natural water, only the water it create as well as turning the user into water as its an elemental curse

i feel like Averill would win against Morden, at least for now due to the massive different in speed and skill

feel like he should be above Trigno and maybe on pair with Arthur since the AG considered him enough of a threat to send the grand admiral and a whole fleet against him

the wooden ship thing is, apparently, because he already wants to die and just want to have a good fight before going out ( even though he probably got one shot the moment Valencia strikes )

do you not play Pokemon Rupin would obviously be higher than Randal

same thing with Morock, she should be way higher imo

how is Nero lower than Julian

OH WAIT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU LIKE THEM :sob:

Tech said 3 years ago that it isn’t external so idk what to believe. That’s why it’s so confusing.

Just my favorites with non canon/retconned curse users, not that serious and pretty much can be boiled down to “I just think they’re neat”

  1. Morock Creed - I just think he’s the most legendary despite an extremely tragic end that made some people mad

  2. Techlevel80 (Colt) - It was fun seeing the Inferno Curse in game and the mass wars against Tech, or Colt in a character sense

  3. Torren - Dankflame, love me the epitome of Ow The Edge, plus he might still exist who knows

  4. Freedrock - One of the coldest mf to ever exist even if he’s EXTREMELY mysterious, full of spoilers, making him feel empty character wise at the moment. Can’t wait for lore reveals doe

  5. Durza - His fight in the webcomic made him really cool for me since he was mainly mysterious as fuck during AA times

  6. Valencia - I call her Valencibae, she held her own against Morock even if she was gonna lose without the ship dying, plus she’s named after a Spanish Region which is pretty cool

  7. Trigno - The OG goat, Magma is drippy as hell but his drip isn’t, but the artists fixes that for him

  8. Averill - OG goat as well, can talk to women, chill as a mf, Sun out with his guns out

  9. Rupin - Unhinged Fire Fist Ace, hes like one of the first curse user to have Curse Insanity represented, trolls Trigno

  10. Randal - Good dude, legitimately a lifesaver for everything ancient and write shit down, bro to Theos, just gotta wait for Vetex to let us read his books in AO though

  11. Morden - Was surprising he would get the Death Curse, also surprising that the Death Curse wasn’t too far out and wasn’t even in the Dark Sea, only at the very edge. Cool curse but Morden’s not there yet

  12. Arsen - cool in lore, a bitch in game, defeated by Magic Fist cheese, but Ash is one of my favorite magics

  13. Avery - I picture him as this swordsman menace that’s borders psychopathy or sociopathy, he fucked up the Ravenna Generals

  14. Nero - Winterveil shall now know pain

  15. Kessler - he did his best man

  16. Julian - I wanna murder him so bad

  17. Zaix - You lost to Veridia, a strong magic user, with the Wave Curse

  18. Landon/Beringer - Vetex/Tech really hates y’all lmao, both Cloud Curse Users went through hell

  19. Ramses II - Didn’t even have the full curse when we fought him in AA smh

  20. Ernest - kinda forgettable, just an abusive dad to Romulus who had a great life without him
