Ravenna is the land of bronze, but apparently also whirlwinds for some reason.
There are a lot of whirlwind type attacks and such attached to Ravenna. It could just be because whirlwinds are cool, but it’s also just fun to theorise a little bit about it.
Examples of whirlwinds connected to Ravenna
Let’s start with the giant whirlwind on a previously Ravenna-owned island, now called Blasted Rock. It probably has something to do with king Caesar’s death but we don’t really know that for sure yet.
Calvus, the latest ruler of Ravenna, has a chance to use an aether-imbued tornado/whirlwind attack in his second phase. Also the followup for the pillars in the second phase act quite similar to wind magic, but we don’t count that.
Lady Carina has her tornado kick attack which launches you upwards.
Argos sort of has a whirlwind attack? It’s basically a big overhead spin that launches you backwards, sort of like a whirlwind. Also his halbert has striking gale.
Elius doesn’t because he tries to be special
Ravenna centurions can spawn in with a greatsword. A greatsword has 2 whirlwind type attacks (tempest and sword draw: mountain wind)
Ravenna ensigns “use” a Ravenna sword (they aren’t even lvl 30 so they shouldn’t even be able to survive touching it one.). The Ravenna sword is part of the one-handed bladed weapons, so it has an ability called whirlwind.
Dame Caesennia, who wields the unobtainable Ravenna greataxe, has access to Striking Gale. It’s an ability that summons a large tornado.
Anyways, I am probably just thinking too deep into this, but it’s pretty fun and you should try to do that too. Also it’s a bit weird that they don’t really use spears, since they seem to fit the theme of Ravenna better than a war axe or a greatsword.
I am way too tired for this but my brain begged me to post this so…
