I don’t think choice is required for something to be considered “diverse”. Perhaps you have the terms switched up? Depending on the circumstances, I would even say that forcing players to accept a random race helps diversity, since people can’t choose races based on meta or a general consensus on what is “cool” among the playerbase.
I also don’t see how not having a race system would make it “more diverse”. You can’t make a statement like that without extra details. I’m sure there are ways to have your game be more diverse than a game with a race system without one, but that doesn’t mean not having a race system makes games “more diverse”.
That explains a lot about your opinions on RL from what I’ve seen here, actually.
You’re this passionate about your distaste for a game that you never even experienced?
Likely not, though I was not under the impression that this was a necessary addition.
I can’t think of many products that I purchase in my life where I demand a free sample before buying it. It’s my responsibility to spend responsibly. If the seller decides to give me a free sample, then all good, but it’s in no way necessary.
Your beliefs on what is deserved or not notwithstanding, it’s still a transaction.
You seem to treat the buyers like 5 year old idiots that have no idea how to handle money responsibly. If you buy some shit without doing any research whatsoever as to whether you’ll like it or not, that’s on you. If you buy it but your judgement from your research happens to be wrong, then that’s a learning experience for you.
The producer only deserves to come under fire if you can prove that the product was wrongly or misleadingly advertised. In that case, then they are actively deceiving people into buying their things. That is a different matter altogether from what you are talking about.
All this under the supposition that your unfounded assertions on how the game will be like are even slightly true. A supposition, mind you, that comes not from a direct experience with their previous game but from what others told you.
