Recreating Meals from Arcane Odyssey IRL

Alright, so I was inspired by this video to ponder: How would meals from Arcane Odyssey look like in real life? Well luckily for us, the stuff we cook in AO is not too far off from real life, nor are the ingredients…mostly. HOWEVER, the cooking method should be the main issue, as we just sort of toss everything into a pot of boiling water and pray.

So I would like to break this idea into two categories/challenges.

Gameplay-Accurate Cooking
The idea is to not attempt to modify recipes in order to fit their supposite end products, instead opting to just do what our character does and toss everything into a pot, water included. As for “impossible” ingredients, try to find the closes equivalents possible appearance-wise (and possibly taste wise, although it is best to just lean towards appearance wise).

Item-Accurate Cooking
The idea is to simply aim to get the end result as best as possible. This is WAY easier, so for extra challenge try to make it as close to possible as the recipe was depicted in game, pot and water included, without making a great mistake. For “impossible” ingredients, try to aim for closes equivalents, preferably taste-wise, but appearance as well. As for status effects, ignore them, mostly because I feel like the only solution involves multiple forumers going to jail.

Now go forth my pretties, create our great mistake buffets! And may you look moronic in the process!

I feel like for the “real life” stuff, we’re going to spend most of it just steaming stuff like pasta and such.

Would I get in trouble posting “sleepy time chicken”?

all the fishes, most of the herbs (except blue rosemary and sun caraway (partially)), most fruits (except sky fruits), and some mushrooms exist irl

Wait even the sun herb? And how the hell are we going to get a hold of sharks and giant squids?

the sun herb exists to an extent (caraway exist irl but not sun variant)

Oh yeah, those things. I wonder what they taste like with magic, probably really sweet just like the sky stuff. Does magic taste sweet in general?

idk what magic tastes like, depends on form/element?

also obviously no sky fruits irl

IDK about color but you could probably get a variety of each that tastes like how they’re described.

should i suggest a serious or joke meal someone should cook irl

Both, both are good

your drug meal: magic mushroom + weed (idk if its gonna be seasoning or fruit) + poppy seeds + any fish of your choice

a serious meal: triggerfish + prickly pear + white mushroom + lemongrass

This seems like it could potentially be good, although the prickly pear may be weird.

fruits dont go well with fish and mushroom

Nah it does, I’ve tried some weird ass fruity fish curry thing it was good.

Keeping this thread upfloat

  1. Would it be stupid of me misusing cooking equipment in the house to do this and potentially risk everything?
  2. I can imagine us making most of these.
  • Steamed cakes are an actual thing, maybe we can do that with bread.
  • We can also make a batter using the pot for pie, and then make it an ice box pie.
  • Spaghetti should be easy as shit, but we won’t be using proper spagetti as that requires egg, which we lack. Should still be decent.
  • I think for “grilled” you can get away with putting something metal and conductible on top and use that as a weird grill of sorts.
  • Simmered fruits should be piss easy just toss fruit into a bowl
  • Mushrooms even easier TBH
  • Only problem is putting like a single thing into a pot because that makes grilled, I guess maybe if we don’t use water.
  • How do we make “dinners”? I double we can just upscale everything
  • How about sharks? I think we can make shark fillets, but imagine all that effort.

This may to offtopic but I really do hope we get the ability to make sauces in the future. It’s too fitting.

I made pumpkin pie
