this post contains a link to a google doc which holds various ideas (with diagrams) of rare/lost spells that could be added to the game. Keep in mind i made this with limited information, so if one of these spells is already planned, or someone else had the idea first, i would not know.
this is kind of like the barrage spell already in-game but worse because you can’t really control where the blasts go, also unlike mountain wind, it would be on magic so it wouldnt be good for clashing and since they’re just blasts they would be hard to land (you dont really wanna be close enough to land all 3 spells)
so just conjure elemental but an animal and limited to 1
not a horrible idea but i feel like this should just be an option on conjure elemental as a shape rather than its own unique spell
dont think we’ll ever be getting captain maria’s spell but i do like the shapes to add variety
only unique one is shell and its sort of redundant because of barrier and construct, plus no mage is going to want to use up all of that energy while standing still when they are a zoner class
Spray
I actually really like it (especially because of how customizable it is). Though like Keiko said, it would be a little risky to try and land every blast up close. Maybe it could start off as a single, low damage blast before splitting after a set duration (perhaps another customization slider? could range from near instantaneous to like 3s) sort of like phoenix’s ash pulse from EBG. Also, maybe there could be an option to fire them in completely randomized directions rather than in an organized fashion
Assault
Not much to say about it, though I do believe magic has yet to receive its crash clone so it would be nice to have just to exist (even though i doubt most magic users would use it)
Conjure Familiar
I think it’s really cool, I feel like it would be deserving of being an ancient spell due to its complexity. Though perhaps it could be split up into different spells
Shell
It would be cool if it had a size slider or size scaling so that you could protect allies within its aoe/behind you. The spell is different enough from barrier, so it would be a cool addition
Maraud
I also really like this! For scaling, I think its reach should be affected by the range stat while size affects the width of the attack’s AoE (size slider can still affect both). Perhaps the knockback direction could be customized as well, such as whacking the target towards the caster in exchange for higher damage or knocking them away in exchange for lower damage.
Maybe like passive spells that change how some of your other spells/moves work? Like one spell could change your m1 to do something different, like instead of being a bunch of tiny blasts it could be one big blast with higher damage and a longer cd ( I also just like this since it would make combat more dynamic since you wouldn’t need to stop in place to use it.). I guess it would kind of be like a grenade type of projectile that explodes after a short while. Big problem with this would be customization as idk how it would work (maybe different sizes and cd’s).
Another one could be one that changes how your block works to an extent (this might be a stretch but who know.) I imagine that this spell would be that your block makes you create a shield esc structure in front of you, with increased resistance against damage. Of course this would need some drawbacks otherwise it would just be an autopick, so maybe it could drain energy along with stamina, and maybe the block could less effective from other angles. Ex: You hold block and your facing an opponent, if they go over you and behind you and throw a spell, your block would be less effective than a normal block since your more focused on the spell.
ngl i mostly got the idea for spray from the attack Caesar does, with the 3 metal blast bursts in pairs. i think it’s just fine if it spreads instantly, especially if you edit the spell to have a narrow spread.
For conjure familiar, i decided that i’m not really going to separate rare/lost spells, since the difference is basically only visual. though yeah it could be dif spells considering elemental is its own thing.
that was in fact the idea behind shell, though the base size should def be enough on its own to protect others if it were added. imo it’d scale at pretty good efficiency with size too
I do like that idea with maraud, it’d def be useful in the future for hybrids, esp a magic-heavy warlock
