Reminders for AO (Part 1)

Updated 1.6.54

It seems like Vetex is making some changes under the hood. This kind of stuff really needs to be done or else the game will end up like Rogue Lineage where adding onto it is a huge pain in the butt.

Wym “end up like rogue”
Yes the game is hard, but it’s wayyyy more fun than current wom :skull:

he’s talking about it from a development standpoint in which adding content will be difficult for vetex

Yeah but it has nothing to do with rogue lineage. All the trello is saying is that, vetex’s way of coding doesn’t allow for new skills or moves to be added to a current item/weapon. So he’s just trying sm out to fix that.

It does have something to do with Rogue Lineage. According to the Rogue lineage devs, the game is “super hard coded.” This future proof stuff that Vetex is working on is how you avoid the game ending up like that.

It’s very difficult to understand if you’ve never coded before, and I’m crap at explaining these things.

It shouldn’t matter too much anyways.

Is it like the spaghetti code of tf2?

itll matter in the future when vetex has to add more content to the game. It’s basically a precautionary measure, to make sure the game doesn’t end up being incredibly difficult to update in the future like Rogue Lineage.

Oh okay, but (sorry if I’m dumb) why is it hard for them to update the game, what did they screw up on.

the way they coded the game early on was super… I dunno, rigid? It’s difficult to add new content without messing up what was already there if that makes sense

Oh, that makes sense, thanks.

Basically, they neglected the idea of making the code flexible, OR it needs refinement for the roadmap’s plans. A lot of older Roblox games suffer from this idea, which is part of why the enforcement of Filtering Enabled murdered so many games. It’s also a reason why AA died. The code was just that closed-ended to itself that trying to reprogram it would be a worse decision than starting all the way over.

Top that with Roblox’s unusual habit to make MORE errors pop up in RANDOM PLACES UNRELATED TO THE BUG when you try to fix bugs and edit code aaaaand things really get nasty.
