Reminders for AO (Part 1)

Not sure exactly what this means but both of the things you said have changed have literally already changed multiple times.

I don’t know what requirements you would personally need to consider it a “complete revamp” but so far, damage scaling has been changed several times, aerials have been added, hitboxes have been completely reworked, heavy slash has been rebinded, knockback added, stunning added, and stamina reworked.

Are you referring to just weapons as a whole or specifically skills? Because even for skills I would still say the system has been overhauled. Vetex has optimized the skill system in preparation for weapon skills, created a different system, and all old skills have been removed in place for new ones.

Like the dagger throw, some ideas might be recycled, but those still aren’t the exact same skills, at least from a visual or balance perspective.

Pretty sure what they described was a decent explanation of what Vetex is doing.

Pretty sure what AO is doing to weapons is a complete revamp

Sorry, i meant before the nerf of all weapons, that the way damage scaled wouldn’t be completely
Different.

It literally still is though. The damage is slightly lower than pre-weapon nerf, a factor of both level and skill points, and item level influences it differently. Additionally, power enchant has been reworked so that weapons no longer need a 2nd enchant to deal higher damage.

Confused about what you are talking about

Some time in WoM all weapon damage got gutted, in AO that got significantly increased but not to the same level as pre-nerf. Weapon skills will probably still deal adequate damage but not because the system was left unchanged.

Either way, I don’t think weapon skills being adequate means dealing pre-nerf weapon damage, the entire reason they were nerfed was because they overpowered magic, the only reason people wouldn’t ONLY use weapons was because cooldowns made that harder, except for bow mains.

Oh, thank you I understand now

I still wouldn’t call this a complete revamp of damage scaling, however it would make sense like that.
What I meant by weapons not being completely revamped are the core mechanics not being drastically changed to a completely different style.

Oh you’ll see a lot more ideas and changes happening to weapons other than just fancy new skills. There’s a whole route afterall for warriors.

True, personally I can’t really argue with testers since they get to actually play current AO rn, just stating my thoughts.

Yeah it was j a debate Srry if I sounded hostile. We friendly dw

Pog, but how do you elaborate on weapons? Legendary weapons?

I believe it’s going to be stuff along the lines of legendary weapons, sunkens, lost skills(like lost spells but for weapons) and other stuff that vetex hasn’t even discussed or hinted at

Lost skills sound extremely fun.

I don’t think it’s happening. These are preset skills you don’t make.

Yea, though I could’ve sworn that there was something on the trello about lost skills

Well certain weapons will have unique skills if that’s what you seen. There are also Lost Techniques, but those are for fighting styles, not weapons.

Yup it was on the trello
Idk if it still is tho

OHHH
So I wasn’t hallucinating ages ago.
I guess Vetex may have decided to undo it because of some technical issue. RIP self-made skills.

Unless these presets are just weirdly worded but man
