So basically heavy slashes were m2s, wouldnt these be useful for the stun portion of combat tho? I wouldn’t know fs tho since I’m not a tester but I feel like melee combat isn’t so great in ao, most of it seems like aerial, dodging, skill spamming combat based on what we’ve seen, it would be interesting to see REAL m1s added and a proper parrying, m2, and combo system.

true but i still feel like we’re being cheated on the m1 aspect of the game. I thought that since weapons were going to become an important part of AO’s combat, especially with all the new moves and builds, a new m1 system would be added. But based on the leaks we’ve been given, recent and old it seems like the m1s are still inconsistent sloppy swings, it makes it look like the user has no proficiency in the weapon he’s using? Also movement, parrying, and m2s are horrible with m1 combat especially due to how fast everyone was moving. If you look at infernofernos combat clips with j melees you’ll see what I’m talking abt

I think weapon skills were probably always intended to be the main form of weapon combat, slashes exist but considering how AO’s combat system works they’re pretty hard to land anyways since the pvp’s meant to be more aerial. Weapons focusing on slashes more would especially put em at a disadvantage against mages and gunslingers, which is why most skills seem to have range or aoe

Thinking of ice, do you guys think when ice makes platforms each one will be the same size again, or since water is more important in this game do you think larger blasts will make larger platforms?

i hope the latter is true.

This is true if you look at the spear animations
I’m still salty that the hits at the end of the combo are spinning slashes instead of thrusts. Spears are pointy but don’t have a good cutting edge. Thrusts are quicker and have way more power and armor penetration as well.

aerial combat is mostly fine however think of early combat, when you’re just starting out you won’t have as many moves, maybe one or two. and having to rely on those moves to defeat npcs while waiting for cooldowns and the sort would be SOO annoying. To fix this vetex should add a proper m1 system so that early combat isn’t just running and spamming moves, especially since you can’t spam blasts if you’re a weapon user.

honestly in general the weapons animations are sloppy and don’t look good, and they have weird hotboxes and difficult blocking

wonder what the average cooldown on the weapon skills are
are they low enough that they can be mixed in with your r1s for mix-ups, or are they massive attacks that take 10-20 seconds to recharge
maybe a bit of both?

honestly this would only matter if we had an actual m1 system but we don’t, all we know is that moves have cooldown and that already doesn’t look good for early pvp, and ik vetex stated before that early pvp won’t be great, but it should still be improved? Allowing for m1, m2 and move mixups would make early combat less annoying and more fun

You literally unlock your first skill as a warrior if you out 100% if your points into weapons at level 5, multiply by 3 and you have 3 usable skills at that level

We know that some skills have have cd close to 10 seconds (piercing shot for rifle type weapons)
But other than that we don’t know much about weapon skill cd
